If nobody ran Windows anymore, botnets would be gone for the most part.

Attacking websites is more detrimental to wikileaks. They already have an unnecessarily bad reputation, there is no reason to make it any worse. Whoever thinks attacking websites helps wikileaks is an idiot.

The main problem with this is you are fairly wrong. The botnets used in attacks like this are mostly willing users making them, the only thing your idea would stop (temporarily) is botnets from malware. But if Linux/ Mac OS take the center stage, developers of this malware will aim for them.
