It's the third expansion in the series. It's based on a very powerful dragon breaking through from underground and causing general fuckery in the area. It's added new things like new races, race / class combos, zones, quests, levels, dungeons.
Basically it's WoW 2.0

You make it sound like you're never heard of the game World of Warcraft. I know people who have never touched a video game and still know what it is. Yes, it's an expansion for the game.
