Harrison Ford confirms he is in talks to be in 'Blade Runner II'
Old people are still good for films, Clint Eastwood for example did some very good films despite being old as history itself.
Problem with Harison Ford being in old movies is that they don't go with how old he is and try to put him in the same roles as his younger self. Which is one of the reasons Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sucked so much.
Eastwood on the other hand stopped pretending to be a badass cowboy and instead moved on to being a badass old man.
But hes so damn old, how could he possibly do a sequel?
Same way he did the last Indiana Jones movie.
Shame my uncle (Brion James) won't get to be in this, since he died a while about.
do a sequel in other parts of the blade runner universe completely unrelated to to the original plot. only way i can see it working.
Only if the soundtrack is on par, that to me was the best part of Blade Runner.

will literally end ridley scott if he doesnt get Vangelis to do the soundtrack (IF the movie happens lets hope it doesnt)
Sorry but I don't trust Scott to make good movies anymore, and especially a Blade Runner movie. I seriously doubt this, if it ever happens, will be up to par with the first.
Just because of Prometheus you think he's lost his touch?
I don't have much faith in a sequel after Prometheus
I don't have much faith in a sequel after Prometheus
For the fuck's sake, it wasn't Ridley's fault. In terms of actual, honest to God directing, the film was drop dead gorgeous.

If we can make a young person look old with makeup, plaster and special effects, we can easily make an old person look young using similar techniques and movie magic. (and some hair dye, of course)
blade runner is complete as an artwork, to make a sequel would be like making a sequel to a scanner darkly
i really dislike it when artistic films get sequels, and blade runner is one of the only sci fi films ever that's actually interesting from a film analysis point of view
blade runner really should not get a sequel. it'd be like giving citizen kane a sequel. or dr. strangelove.
or like giving alien a sequel, and then another sequel
and then another sequel

I'd say it's much harder to make an old person look younger than making a young person look older. E.g. Jeff Bridges' as Clu in Tron: Legacy.

it was, it just got away from him in a big way. after all that was left on the cutting room floor, the (un)finished project really had a lot to answer for
like [sp]why the black goop had so many different functions for random subjects[/sp], [sp]why the engineers were directing humans to the system of a weapons installation moon,[/sp] [sp]what the engineers in the ship were running away from, and why were they running toward the deadly goop incubation chamber,[/sp] [sp]why the scale changes so much from the space jockey found in Alien to the engineers, and (still!) why there was no explanation for the way the space jockey's suit was found grown into the chair,[/sp] [sp]how the geologist who mapped the entire ship structure could get lost inside it,[/sp] [sp]why weyland felt the need to remain hidden on the voyage when nobody would really care,[/sp] [sp]why nobody questioned the lady archaeologist, who was bloody and naked after an impromptu caesarian,[/sp] [sp]why david would act so illogically, touching random things in the ship, and infecting the guy archaeologist's drink with goop,[/sp] [sp]why there were apparently only ten or twelve crew members on a trillion dollar mission with a massive spaceship[/sp]...
i think scott would need to really keep his eye on the ball, and try to stop it from getting too big. think smaller, for once.
Also giving Blade Runner a movie sequel feels a little weird to me. It would be like making a sequel to Tarkovsky's Solaris.

Most of that falls under poor writing, which I agree, is Ridley's fault for signing off on.
[sp]Maybe Ford could play the original Deckard. You know, since in the original it's heavily implied replicants are like clones, not to mention the novels.[/sp]
I don't think there should be a sequel at all, but knowing Hollywood, I can only hope they don't hire someone like Damon Lindelof to screenwrite it when it eventually gets made.

It was a damn good film.
You know, I don't often lower myself to blatantly just spouting memes, but I feel the situation calls for this.
No. God. No God. Please no. No. No. Nooooo.
tough times call for tough memes, grimhound

no way, loved that guy in the fifth element

speaking of another movie that shouldn't get a sequel because it's so f*ckin good
Ford shmord. It won't be the same Blade Runner if Rutger Hauer isn't in it. They need to at least get him to play some role in the sequel before I'm interested.
Leon Kowalski was a terrifying character, no argument.

sorry i didn't realize the director isn't at fault when their movies are bad
I've seen sequels you people wouldn't believe...Hmm.
Indiana Jones on fire by horrible ideas.
I've seen Ridley Scott butcher Prometheus with horrible writing
All those... anticipated movies will be lost.. like tears.. in rain.
Isn't there already a sequel... in the form of a book?
Isn't there already a sequel... in the form of a book?
I dont think Dick did a sequel. I'd rather see them making another movie based on like Ubik than making a sequel independant from his books.
Am I the only person that didn't enjoy blade runner one bit.
Am I the only person that didn't enjoy blade runner one bit.
Yes.
Am I the only person that didn't enjoy blade runner one bit.
Which blade runner
True, Blade Runner stands well enough on its own. But if the sequel sucks I can pretend it doesn't exist.
Correct. The quality of a sequel/prequel won't have a negative impact on the strength of the original.
Shame my uncle (Brion James) won't get to be in this, since he died a while about.
He was your uncle? That's really cool! Did he ever talk much about his work in BR?
Only if the soundtrack is on par, that to me was the best part of Blade Runner.
Vangelis or bust.

I'm interested in how this project turns out, even though I'm satisfied with how the original film ended. In the case of the Alien series, the second film was actually quite strong, while the assembly cut of the third one is pretty good.
Fourth one has a cool bit with with a basketball.
Isn't there already a sequel... in the form of a book?
There were several book sequels written by K. W. Jeter. No idea if they're any good or not.
