I know there are veins and stuff in face, but how life threatening could have this actually been? I mean, to bleed out, he would have to stay untreated for quite a while no? And another thing - I really can't undestand how this went. Did he try to mug him, he fought back, and the dude sliced his face? Or did he do it pre-emptively to gain upper hand and to mug him afterward? I just can't see how this went.
Judging by the fourth line, it seems as if the kid just waltzed up and slashed him in the face for no reason. Never understood the whole "Australia bans everything" and then things like this happen. There's a difference between civil liberty and just punishment.
Send that kid to Afghanistan.
This. This this this this this. [editline]15th December 2011[/editline]
Uh, why?
So that punk knows what the man he tried to kill went through for his country.

It's very possible he could have not been treated, or worse, raiders looking for a tank of juice could have come by and finished him off.
After that supervision ends it will mostly likely just happen again... or even during the supervision.
Actually sending the kid to jail is more likely to criminalize him. If this was on Elizabeth street in the melbourne CBD, there's a hospital about 1km up the road next to my uni [editline]16th December 2011[/editline]
I'm so glad this article wrote VIOLENT in all caps and then called the kid a thug, it's refreshing to see such an objective approach to journalism. They should include some pictures of cute kittens being set on fire by a teenager as well.
This news outlet the equivalent of dailymail. I posted an article about Australian teens getting pregnant, and the quoted a health professional as saying that "one in six" australian teenage girls are pregnant, when it's more like 6%
I feel like the most surprising thing in the article is the fact that Australia has a military EDIT: for the majority of people in the world that cannot read sarcasm through text, this was a joke.
hey, that joke is meant to be used on canada, not australia
I feel like the most surprising thing in the article is the fact that Australia has a military EDIT: for the majority of people in the world that cannot read sarcasm through text, this was a joke.
we've fought in every war you were ya bastard
hey, that joke is meant to be used on canada, not australia
Word. Australia is one of the scientifically most bad ass countries ever existed. A country created out of a need for the British to send their worst prisoners as far away from them as humanly possible.
So that punk knows what the man he tried to kill went through for his country.
Three things: One: I find it unlikely he 'tried to kill him'. If he wanted to kill him, he wouldn't have just slashed his cheek. Two: The guy didn't do anything for his country or the people in it. He just went to go fight in an unending war the Americans started. Three: That's like saying if someone is a rubbish collector, anyone who tries to hurt him or kill him needs to be a rubbish collector. What is with this sudden heart throb for soldiers? It doesn't matter what the hell the person did, they're still a person who was attacked. I have a very good piece of advice for you asteroidrules, never go into any position of law.
lumberjack commandos
BRB starting comic series

Never understood the whole "Australia bans everything" and then things like this happen. There's a difference between civil liberty and just punishment.
The Australia Bans Everything meme/whatever comes from our lack of adult rating for videogames so the most extreme games don't get sold here. This somehow then translated to absolutely everything so whenever Australia makes a law prohibiting something, it becomes part of the joke.
Even though we're getting an R18+ classification at some point [editline]17th December 2011[/editline] it's also taken off the 'britain bans everything', like cases where a pinecone or something similar was thrown, considered 'assault with a deadly weapon' or the analogous UK terminology, and then the local council considered all pinecones to be weapons and considered them illegal
