They mentioned expecting 100km winds expected on Wednesday during their latest press conference. Get ready for that.
my room smells like smoke, its a pleasant change from the smell of sweaty balls.

The weather app doesn't mince words.
NM, AZ and CA oughta loan some of their more experienced firefighters to help out.
thanks for perpetuating the stereotype that americans are bad at geography
My area is just blanketed with smoke.
Went to work today, and the shopping center had smoke going throughout it from the outside.

There is seriously nothing wrong with what they said.
It's pretty insane, I'm close to Liverpool which is far from the Blue Mountains, and there's crazy amounts of smoke in the air. I work in Penrith, we thought it had subsided on Sunday, but looks like it's flared up again today, not that windy but 35C weather won't help.
Hope the conditions start to turn around soon, too many friends have had close calls.
You do realize this is in Australia, right?
You do realize the American Southwest deals with some pretty gnarly wildfires every year, correct?
Residents near fire prone zones have been told to stay and fight the fires or pack their bags and fuck off, they need to make up their mind by Wednesday otherwise it's too late
Wait so they're conscripting firefighters now? That's kinda badass and also pretty bad if it's gotten that far.
well that's what 7 news was saying, they want residents to help save their homes and others, I think you can volunteer but if you're staying behind you'll most likely be expected to help
My dad and brother just got sent up for a week, I sure hope they get through it all right.

The player on the site is shite, so if it only shows up as audio try another browser.
Well here in Melbourne it's been raining and humid, not so bad down here.
But it will get bad, this is Victoria....I live in a semi-rural area of Victoria , I remember those massive bushfires that covered my town in smoke but the fires never got close, there was a grassfire in my town that was quickly contained last year so that's the worse of it in my area.
Its so hot everyday that it basically smells like burnt leaves outside

Bomb it with napalm, that'll teach it.

Wolfram|Alpha is saying that 116,154 hectares (1162 km^2) is 1.1 times larger than Hong Kong (1104 km^2).
Besides the smoke in Budspoonce' pics, australia looks like the paradise i remember it was. I'm sad to see peoples homes being burned away :(

That looks apocalyptic, scary stuff.
'Tis a pretty scary situation.
I live in NSW, so far it's been fine here. I dread to see what Summer brings us.

I want to see how close it is to me, is there a website where I can see it from the air?
The RFS site here can provide you with up to date information but they are only outlines of the fire zones: http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/dsp_content.cfm?cat_id=683
It seems my town is okay for now, but it is starting to get close, about 30 minutes away is the closet one.
Oh it is under control, so we should be fine.
Just drove down the F3 from Newcastle Link Rd.
The fire was less than 100m from the road on my left.
3 water bomber choppers and a fuck-ton of fire engines and tankers.

I hope you're out of the way man.
I'm living in canberra, i still see the reminders of the firestorm. You do not want to be in the way.
I hope you're out of the way man.
We haven't been told to move yet, so we might wait it out a bit.
The wind is blowing ~80km/h with gusts of ~110km/h.
The 37°C temp, and 21% humidity isn't helping.
Video of that fire from one of the choppers:
then why can i hear them training with guns?
Because they aren't going to send the entire ADF to fight fires..?
