I doubt they'll change anything besides adding a few more adds. Worst comes to worst theres always OoVoo.
Oh fuck, I bet it's going to start asking me to update all the bloody time now.
Skype already has a pay service to call landlines so why are you worried about microsoft doing the exact same thing? :bandwagon: if you ask me.
But computer-to-computer is free. We're afraid that they might charge for that as well.
But computer-to-computer is free. We're afraid that they might charge for that as well.
That would be so impossibly stupid from marketing point of view. There's way too many alternatives for them to start charging.
Rather have Microsoft, instead of Facebook making the purchase.
This could be alright, as long as the quality stays the same and they don't charge for anything more than they do now...all is good
Not really. They will certainly throw out the linux port, for example.
I don't see why everyone seems to think the worst possible outcome will happen. Microsoft, as we all know tries to make as much money as possible, same could be said for any business really, so why would they make dramatically change it? They would want as many people to use it, free or paid, to keep the user base or make it larger.
I bet microsoft is going to limit time on calls unless you pay or something. I guess it's back to steam calling.
EIther way you shake it, soon everything we use on the fucking computer will be monopolized. That is why I do not support running an Apple OS, because it just seems like everything has to come specifically from Apple. Linux is the way to go for the freedom of the internet. [editline]13th May 2011[/editline] These corporate fuckbags are going to cripple what we can do with the internet.
Can you even run Vista if that's true?
Yes, but Vista performs worse than 7 in my case. Imagine it with the 20% slowdown and it's just UGH. Fuck, not even an Ubuntu VM taking a quarter of my RAM managed to stop me from playing some of the newest games, but I found myself closing Skype a lot just so I can play some L4D2. [editline]12th May 2011[/editline]
I'm not sure where this "MICROSOFT ARE MONEY HUNGRY BASTARDS" thing came from, because the majority of their services are free, and really good (Hotmail, Skydrive, MSN etc.)
Disagree with Hotmail, but the rest of this is fact.
Not really seeing much bad from this, Microsoft making computer to computer calls be pay would be shooting itself in the foot from a marketing standpoint
here comes the OMG MICRO$OFT SUX EVIL CORPORATIONS RUINING OUR STUFF FITE DA MAN need i remind you that like 80% of you are running your computer on an operating system MADE by this company?
And as long as we're paying for it we've got the right to criticize it. :colbert:
Better them than any other major company i suppose. Wonder how it might change.
