You might have a point if literally every single other comic book character who's ever existed with "man" in there name wasnt using the first defintion, INCLUDING IRON MAN.
Change of perception. Why not? Could make for a clever scene or speech.
Change of perception. Why not? Could make for a clever scene or speech.
But thats dumb.

Iron Mans name is literally a descriptor, when he was first created, his suit was literally made of iron, shaped into the form of a man.
First off, a 15 year old black girl who's somehow mastered robotics and engineering and built an Iron Man suit at MIT using scrap she found is fucking dumb. And yes it is unrealistic.
Yeah but considering the different circumstances of the suits being built its understandable that hers is more advanced. She has the old suit to go off of (assuming that she flat out doesn't have schematics or blueprints or something of an actual suit), can build at entirely her own leisure without being gravely injured an in captivity, not to mention Starks being built decades ago. The situations of the respective suits creation are entirely not comparable in the least. If the roles were reversed I have no doubt in my mind that Stark would be able to accomplish something similar if not superior.
Also, those apply to Stark yes.
He also runs a company, has billions of dollars, and was around 30 when he became Iron Man after years of designing state of the art weapons, and his first suit was a grey tin-man tank armor that couldnt even fly.
And yes, it is pandering. Brian Michael Bendis created a mary sue token minority character replacement for pandering, its what he's been doing.
Because he fucking mentioned it in his post!??!!??!?
Its been a point you seem to be hell bent on driving home and have said it multiple times. Come on.

No.
Theres been stories where he's been in similar and a point of a number of those was that he couldnt just Iron Man his way out of it because he cant just pull armor out of his ass.

Dismissal is not a rebuttal.

It's dumb to you. It's cool to me. Differing opinions. You aren't the warden of comics.
Change of perception. Why not? Could make for a clever scene or speech.
Not only what i mentioned previously, but since his first appearance, there've been stories, even in the third movie, about how Iron Man is more than the suit, and how Tony Stark IS Iron Man.
Fucking nobody uses the second definition of the word "Man" unless its involving space or the human race as a whole, its contrived and confusing to use it as a name for a girl character unless its supposed to be a secret she's a girl, and as shown previously, it isnt.

How is it cool.
Its contrived, confusing, and low effort. Its bad.

When Pepper Pots was Iron Man, they called her Rescue, should they have just called her Iron Man too because names don't mean anything?
Iron Man is a mantle. Batwoman doesn't become Batman, she's Batwoman, and she's her own person. Why can't this be their own person taking up their own mantle?
No.

Wow, its almost as if they're different people!

Wait what, explain b/c you lost me

Dont forget that theres a vacant Mantle from the Earth X alternate universe story back in the 90s that hasnt been used since in any meaningful capacity that'd be perfect for her,
Iron Maiden.

i was talking about the "Man" in Iron Man referring to "mankind". I never said anything about ~names not meaning anything~. Don't put words in my mouth please.

The first part of the article says "she's still working out the name" so I'd imagine that she will, and your exact points will probably be said and brought up in like the first issue

Yeah name her after a band gj
Wow, its almost as if they're different people!
No, thats a mary sue.
The billionaire genius who INVENTED the damn thing cant make a suit in the same situation but this 15 year old MIT student can using spare parts lying around a fucking DORM? Come on man.
Wait what, explain b/c you lost me
You're dismissing the point i was making. Thats not a rebuttal.
Yeah name her after a band gj
Holy fucking shit you cannot be serious right now.
Holy FUck.
Like it LITERALLY says "'Iron Man' for now". What's your source that she's going to be Iron Man permanently or that her name being Iron Man won't be addressed, because the evidence so far points to the contrary.
i was talking about the "Man" in Iron Man referring to "mankind". I never said anything about ~names not meaning anything~. Don't put words in my mouth please.
Yeah you did.
You're excusing it using a definition rarely used as a plural for the species.

Brian Michael Bendis.
You evidently dont read comics.
Yeah name her after a band gj
Or
you know
An Iron Maiden, a literal historical torture device that actually existed, was a giant metal coffin with large spikes inside of it
Or, you know
A literal previous incarnation of a supervillain from the Marvel universe
When Pepper Pots was Iron Man, they called her Rescue, should they have just called her Iron Man too because names don't mean anything?

This isn't like those cases. This is more like Terry Mcginnis becoming Batman.
Holy fucking shit you cannot be serious right now.
Holy FUck.
Lol stop it with this bold text shit that you've been doing, I hate to be the guy who responds with calm down but you've really been flying off the handle with this
Lol stop it with this bold text shit that you've been doing, I hate to be the guy who responds with calm down but you've really been flying off the handle with this
Dont tell me what to do.
This isn't like those cases. This is more like Terry Mcginnis becoming Batman.
No its not.
Its nothing like that at all.
This is some random chick stealing the name Iron Man out from under him. He has no idea she exists.
Brian Michael Bendis.
You evidently dont read comics.
Bendis has plenty of fans.
No reason to be such an elitist about it all because you ~plan on getting in the industry~.
Yeah name her after a band gj
1. A maiden is a young, unmarried woman. Which sure as fuck suits a 15 year old girl more than man.
2. An Iron Maiden is a (fictional) torture device (supposedly) used in the middle ages. In reality it was created for museums to make the middle ages look more barbaric, but whatever.
3. The name Iron Maiden is rad as hell.
4. She's either going to take on her own name later or she'll fucking disappear like all the other pointless tokenisms. So why not cut the bullshit and make her her own character from the start?
This isn't like those cases. This is more like Terry Mcginnis becoming Batman.
This is more like Batman found a 15 year old version of himself who was actually a better Batman, than Batman ever had been
it'd be insulting to the fans
Terry was great because he struggled to earn Bruces respect, he had to struggle to be good at being Batman, and he ultimately ended up being his own version of Batman.

Brian Michael Bendis.

You can keep using this crystal ball shit by just repeating his name over and over again but it doesn't stop it from being a half-baked non-rebuttal
Give me a source or don't bother replying, precedent is precedent sure but don't pretend that it makes you omnipresently aware of everything that will happen in the comic before it exists
Dont tell me what to do.

"She comes to the attention of Tony when she builds her own Iron Man suit in her dorm."
Funny I should be saying this, but did you even read the thread dude?
Bendis has plenty of fans.
No, he used to have plenty of fans.
Ask any longtime Marvel fan and they'll tell you how much of a fucking tumor he is on the company. I can ask my friend right now about how brutally he destroy the Cosmic side of Marvel.
No reason to be such an elitist about it all because you ~plan on getting in the industry~.
Oh ho ho look at the big boy mocking my career plans.
Bendis has plenty of fans.

Having fans isn't indicative of quality. If it were then Twilight would be considered a fucking masterpiece.

I KEEP MENTIONING HIM BECAUSE HE'S THE GUY WRITING IT.
He has a HISTORY of this. He has not a single clever bone in his body. He's a shit writer, a one trick pony, he's known for ignoring continuity, not caring about anything other people do with characters so he can do whatever the fuck he wants, people hate him for a reason.

Oh right, i missed that.
You still missed the part where Tony Stark also goes into hiding as a result of Civil War II.

Dude, I know what an iron maiden is, I play video games ffs. As a title or icon it wouldn't make it far at all due to the band being the first thing that comes to the average person's head.
Also the name iron maiden is cheesy af to me, but this is all just different strokes for different folks.

Lots of people love Ultimate Spiderman, including me. Stop trying to make it come off like the guy is the worst writer and is universally hated.
