The reasonings of an adult, ladies and gentlemen.
Except what he's saying is a fact. A fact openly supported by Marvels HoP and EiC. Now maybe, just maybe you'll read a book or some shit, instead literally making up hypotheticals just to shitpost a NONEXISTANT devil's avocado.
I read plenty of books. My family's library holds the best books. Including comics. This is an industry that I am heavily invested in, and I know what people are talking about.
I missed the "one", it seems. My point is, mediums have standards, they must have stantards. You wouldnt be defending this if it was a video game, or a movie. Thats my point. Marvel has no standards. They dont care.
Depends on how the change is handled. I probably would tbh. I know it's come up, but everybody hated MGS 2 for switching Snake for a Snake-wannabe prettyboy. His writing was grating, he just wasn't generally likeable until a certain point in the game. And even then it was more because the plot itself explained why he's such a cock in MGS 2. Other than a hack writer probably dropping the ball, why could that not apply here? Why is it worth losing this much shit over at this point in time? When he fucks it up, lose your shit then. There's no point getting pissed off about what-ifs and hypothetical outcomes. You're getting worked up enough to be misreading posts and misrepresenting the points others are making (you've admitted to it at least twice that I can be bothered to remember, one in the OP and one just now). You might want to cool off and take a break from this one.
books
So you're literally just shitposting ignorance, then, after being directly contradicted by two different factual sources?
devil's avocado.]
unrelated, but have people just really committed to this joke now or have we apparently all forgotten the actual phrase?
You guys realize the actual company of Marvel, the Disney subsidiary, is so cancerous that Kevin Feige, the guy who runs the MCU, actually had the creative committee consisting of members of the company disbaned and all power returned to him because they were fucking up so much. The company is run by a veritable psycho who (rumor, in any event) threatened a man and told him to kill his kids if they turned out gay. Other industry professionals have OPENLY called out Marvel on their bullshit. Rob might not be the best artist but he knows what he's talking about. Somebody brought this up on /co/ and it really shows how much of a hack Bendis is. [img_thumb]http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/marveldatabase/images/2/24/Lila_Rhodes_%28Earth-616%29_001.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140327013455[/img_thumb] http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Lila_Rhodes_(Earth-616) This is Lila Rhodes, War Machine's niece. "She was a prodigy child who helped her uncle with any modification his armor needed" So right away she's established to be a smart kid and have experience working with the War Machine suit "...where she talked to Tony Stark, who offered her to train her programming abilities" AND is also supposedly being trained by Tony Stark himself So there is already a young, super-smart black girl in Iron Man's cast that has ties to Tony and Rhodey as well as has experience working with Iron Man suits. Lila is literally everything Bendis wanted to do with Riri AND the answer to all the problems comic fans have with her but he couldn't be bothered to do 5 minutes of research to learn she existed. I mean her first appearance was in May 2014 so its not like shes some long forgotten relic nobody would know of she was created 2 YEARS AGO.

So it's confirmed, Bendis knows absolutely nothing about comic books. [editline]7th July 2016[/editline] All the more reason to call out on this bullshit reboot.

Just has an idea he thinks is good. If he was pandering he would have just tacked in lila instead of developing a completely new character.
That example makes for a pretty good argument against the people saying that riri williams was created to pander. Just has an idea he thinks is good.
Does it? It doesn't seem like it does to me. What it seems like to me is that Bendis, a writer who many people don't like and some do, didn't do any research on characters that already exist before basically usurping the character. Everyone ignored my Batman comparison, and I can only surmise why. It's accurate and uncomfortably so in that regards. Tony isn't getting a side kick or a companion. He's getting someone who is in every single way, better than he is. Riri isn't like Terry, she's like if Terry's first attempt at Batman went better than any of Batmans attempts ever.

Just report and move on.

Isn't tacking in a TOTALLY COOL ORIGINAL CHARACTER to replace Tony, rather than bringing back an obscure character more appealing to the casual audiences, and self serving in a way?
if anything, Bendis saved GotG
Oh my god you didn't just say that He did fucking not. Go read the older GotG comics and compare them to the absolute garbage that is the current ones. Marvel cosmic went on from 2004-2012 with every single book under it being good to amazing. Those books respected previous cannon, even the more outlandish things like the bizzare 1980s Rocket Raccoon series. They were dealing with vast cosmic disasters and threats, yet written in a way making them easy to understand yet not dumbed down. They are all, for the most part, a master craft of comic writing and world building. Some of the greatest, yet most over looked comics ever put to print. Go check out Annihilation, Annihilation Conquest, and the DnA GotG run. THEN HERE COMES BENDIS He threw out 50 FUCKING YEARS WORTH of continuity for no reason. Everything was all summed up and made easy before, but it didn't fit Bendis's ideas, and he refused to work around it. Hell lets get into some specifics, why not. First off, characters were written the exact opposite of how they had been. for 40 years Rocket Raccoon was a kind hearted (yet wise cracking) raccoon who was a brilliant tactician But now Rocket is a psychopathic kamikaze asshole. Suddenly his backstory is he was a tortured experiment and not a raccoon but an alien that just looks like one, which he never fucking was any of that. Star-Lord was a head strong leader, a space hero of old leading a team of super powered beings to fight for the safety of the galaxy Now he's some punk ass bitch with daddy issues flying around space becuase I don't know. Speaking of Star-Lord, there was a massively defining character moment where he ditched all his old Star-Lord gear due to a massive sense of grief and regret for mistakes he made as a hero. It was a moment that eventualy would lead to him forming the GotG. but NAW now he has his element gun back because ijasaiufbsaiurjg9h9wfns The Guardians used to deal with huge cosmic threats, the ENTIRE POINT of them is that they stop universe ending events before they happen. They are supposed to deal with massive almost unknowable adversaries. Thats what they have done since the fucking 70s. But now, under bendis, they are just a bunch of assholes flying around space doing fucking nothing. Bendis fucking killed the GotG. Fuck I didn't know Dan Abnett did stuff with GotG, he's pretty much the top 40k writter.
Fuck I didn't know Dan Abnett did stuff with GotG, he's pretty much the top 40k writter.
Ya. I am a tad biased with those comics helping me pull through some suicidal depression I was going through, but they are some of the greatest comics ever made. Check em out if you got the cash and the time. You don't even need to know anything going into them. I didnt even know Marvel cosmic existed when I first read them many years ago. Jumping head first into that world was an amazing experience.
Fuck I didn't know Dan Abnett did stuff with GotG, he's pretty much the top 40k writter.
May have to check his stuff out after I finish Gaunt's Ghosts...
if anything, Bendis saved GotG
What are you on about? His GotG is completely shit to the point where the script writer/movie directoor of the GotG movie said not to read it
It's what he thought was best, and it worked. Fans loved it.
Uh what? There was a huge outrage from Nova fans for what he did to Rider. Look you obviously know nothing so go read Conquest Annihilation from 2008 and it's sequels and GotG/Nova runs from 2008 and you'll see how Bendis fucking ruined all of cosmic marvel. You know he threatens cosmic marvel fans with what he's going to write, right?

*walks in with a elaborate mustache* so my time is very valuable so I didn't look at any posts in this thread but whoever is against this is a clear racist and is only afraid of change. now if you call me out on this I'll spend the next 4 pages (and my valuable time) telling you why you're wrong and bad.
OK one character design problem; affros and helmets do not mix That's all Also on a side note, not to be a white guy but are they gonna get rid of all the white guys from comics now?
White people are what is wrong with comics, especially white men. It is a very problematic problem.
You mean Annihilation: Conquest (which was the second event, the first was Annihilation)
Annhilation: Conquest is also the start of the GotG 2008 Nice try using google to seem right
White people are what is wrong with comics, especially white men. It is a very problematic problem.
It's media proven that less white people in video games and comics creates less racism and less police corruption. TV told me so.
Nice try using google to seem right
What the fuck kind of comment is that? Do you want me to take a picture of my two omnibuses, digital collections, individual issues, and trade paperbacks? Don't be an asshole. Also go read my post a few posts above yours. It's clear I've read these dude. Also look at my title Also no, Annhilation: Conquest was not where the GotG started. It was a prototype team that layed the foundation for the GotG and lead Star-Lord to understand he needed to stop being a grumpy old fart and be proactive.

I said it was the start of the 2008 GotG
When did I say Annhilation: Conquest was the start of GotG? I said it was the start of the 2008 GotG
It's still not the start of the 2008 gotg. Read what I said

i guess that isn't a horrible storyline. tony stark is missing, so a conveniently genius black girl decides she should be the one to fill the gap in. not a bad storyline, i said. character/pandering stuff is entirely separate.
