Welp, everything I wanted to say has been said several times in this thread. I'm just gonna pop in and say fuck Bendis. He almost completely drove me off my favorite Marvel IP. my problem with this is that it suggests that marvel is chronically incapable of creating good, original minority characters, so they instead choose to make some fake drama by taking an established character and spinning it either that, or they have so little confidence in their original minority characters that they decide to splurge out on doing the above, rather than developing a character properly basically "iron man and the other big guys are the only characters we have any faith in, so we have to make changes to those characters rather than pushing forward a new one that achieves what we want to do"
