Like I'm fucking basic level comic books, I read what's suggested to me and I try to give everything a chance but people HAVE been giving it a shot. People may not of been happy when they first heard it (We had this song and dance with Girl Thor funny enough) but they still bought the comics to at least see if it was handled well.

Outside one or two cases it just simply hasn't been handled well at all yet and has led to things like the comic I posted last page of Girl Thor or Wonder Woman talking about Mansplaining posted a couple pages back. In a lot of cases these have turned into mouthpieces to show how inclusive they're being and nothing else. People like myself are sick of giving it a chance because it hasn't worked at all in almost every case and any time people show proof or try to explain why it's been bad they're instantly labeled as "Lol so ur terrified of black people/gay people/disabled people then?" It's petty and beyond stupid.

I have faith that Marvel isn't full of retards. People should put down their pitchforks until there's an actual case of forcing equality.

That hamfisted message probably only occurs in Wonder Woman/She Hulk/She Whatever. Those comics appeal to the type of people who wouldn't be upset at the fact that there is "mansplaining" in their comics. If the new Iron Man comics tries to go full on fucking hamfisted image then Marvel is actually full of retards. There's a difference between replacing an already existing character and using forced messages, and creating a second variant of that character and forced messages. If they want the people who previously enjoyed Iron Man comics to enjoy Iron Man comics, then they would be wise to keep the amount of forced messages to the same in an Iron Man comic.

These I don't mind too much with the exception of current Miles Morales since killing of the Ultimate Universe. At least they try to be themselves rather than just linger too long in their predecessor's shadows or just an ethical clone of them.

Comic book fans have the right to be pissed off, especially when the first few 'socjus-approved' comics were utter trash. When it gets to the point that we're getting GamerGate and mansplaining jokes in mainstream comic books, there's an absolute issue that needs to be resolved.

a lot of people are saying it because a lot of the characters being replaced tend to be, you know, white-skinned males and females (though not all obviously), although some are also sarcasm or humor
you paint the context as almost seeming racist practically, but while ethnic diversity isn't bad on principle, replacing or even potentially killing off old generational characters for some sort of ethnic or gender (or sexual preference) replacement has to actually be done competently at the very least or people will feel it to be agenda-pushing

Purely theoretical here, I don't care if Superman is black, white, or a polka-dotted omnisexual, he's a goddamn alien from another planet in the first place and the title of Superman is more of a general heroic mantle than anything as things have proven before. But the moment you put a character into his role or mantle, they have a lot to live up to on principle, and trying to potentially bypass that with a flat character brought up out of nowhere that just takes the role to fill an editor's/writer's quota would be stupid. A character shouldn't be defined by what they are, but who they are and what they do - and maybe some of these news articles just play up the 'what' for clicks and views, some of these replacements have proven to be wholly competent or capable in their own right in the past.

Marvel seems to be doing it the wrong way, but only time will tell.

but the fact is, this isn't the first time a white male character has been demoted from his title and was replaced by a minority of some sort.

i think everyone can absolutely agree that there is no problem with minority superheroes, regardless of their race, gender or sexual orientation and so on.

the problem, is that by replacing said white males, especially with such stupid writing that doesn't fit into the mythology of these comics (granted that comics are somewhat rebooted every time a new main series starts, but they are all generally considered to be the same characters and what have you), and half of their characterization being put into these new characters, it screams lazy and unoriginal.

if done right, a black woman taking over the mantle of iron man would be great. but when this is like femthor, where she happens to be better in basically every way than the original guy despite this being the first time they've stepped into these larger shoes, it's a disgrace to comic readers and people with average or greater intelligence.
