Please forget about the old one, this is the new herodude." like, I don't think anyone ever really gave a fuck about Nick Fury, since he was basically just a GI Joe. So when they replaced him with Samuel L. Jackson, people were fine with it. What people aren't fine with is characters they like being replaced. especially when the replacement is a poorly written one dimensional mouthpiece for the author's political views

There haven't been any "Well a [I]black[/I] guy shouldn't be in charge of gathering the Avengers" strawmen. On the other hand, Jane Foster Thor. No one should have issue with there being a female Thor. For god's sake, Thor was an alien lizard horse before he was a woman.
