The End is Near: Major File Sharing Sites Begin to Fall
You guys sure like to just skim over the reasons your beloved file-sharing sites are taken down.
I'm still firm in belief that a lot of the people who are outraged at the takedowns of these sites are pirates. People disagree with me saying it affects legal users too, but any file worth uploading (Android ROMs, text documents, etc.) will be mirrored on other sites, and there are plenty other filesharers for one-time drag and drop file uploads.
There's literally no reason to become aggravated at the takedown of these sites.
My Webpage/Multimedia teacher tells us to get music off of mediafire all the time so we can make videos... with the "30 second" rule
Filesonic already stated it was only disabling it's sharing service temporarily.
Too many people are panicking over Megaupload being taken down but likely aren't getting the full picture of why it got taken down in the first place. It's a real shame all the files on megaupload are lost now, but considering what the founder was doing, it was his own fault and he had it coming.
Besides, everyone's acting like these are the only file-sharing services on the nets. There's probably, hundreds, maybe thousands of file-sharing sites ready to take up the empty places.
It's not an end of an era, it's just a wakeup call.

Pretty much this. The only people who should be genuinely angry at this are big corporations paying for the service or people who are uploading files such as maps etc.
It can't be argued against that the vast majority of people use these file sharing sites solely for piracy.

That's actually really fucking catchy.
LOVE IT
I used mediafire to send files to my teachers last year. Why is this not allowed.
Anyway, this is just the beginning. They can take our "filesharing" sites, but people will just start using other kinds of sharing methods.

As is most keygen music.
Hell, I have an app on my Andriod just for streaming keygen music, and I've never even used a keygen.
Mediafire is just the best
These are truly the last days

Ain't touched the torrent network yet. Soon we may have to share our mods and other legal files through torrents.

That's what people should have been doing in the first place.

Pft. Yeah. It's not like there's hundreds of other file sharing websites out there.

The less popular torrents suffer from an illness called lack of seeders.
You really think Piratebay has a chance? :-)
The Piratebay isn't under U.S jurisdiction. It's a Swedish website, under Swedish law. However, it could still be blocked to U.S citizens.

Only poorly regulated public trackers have that problem.
Also as the uploader of a file, it's pretty much an unwritten rule that you should seed your own torrents as much as possible.

Like anyone has not made a proxy yet.
(It was blocked for some finnish people, ISP was Elisa, one FP-er made a proxy alaready)

I know I've been against all this hysteria which this thread has created, but one thing that is true is that the US have massive influence over other countries and are very good at getting them to bend down on all fours for them. I wouldn't say that TPB is safe just because it is not under US jurisdiction.

Seedboxes are usually connected to a high speed network, often with a throughput of 100 Mbps or even 1 Gb/s.
Not everyone has Fiber. My upload is 0.8 Mbps for example.
You can rent them I'm pretty sure.

I don't see any source that says filesonic and fileserve are under FBI investigation.

Sensationalist Headlines
Mods should really start locking misleading threads like these.
Meh people can just come to Europe and host them here. FBI wouldn't be able to do jack-shit then.

They went to New Zealand.
And thats were I was planning to go during WW3
IMO them shutting down/closing services till this whole thing blows over is a smart move.
You never know what's gonna happen next, always better safe, then sorry.
I wonder how much it'd cost to host a website like megaupload, but on a smaller scale.
