Oh yeah this will last.
Who does the American government think they are pleasing by closing down all these sites?
Who does the American government think they are pleasing by closing down all these sites?
The MPAA, who pays for their campaigns. Duh.
The MPAA, who pays for their campaigns. Duh.
And pissing off everyone who is not in the MPAA.
You know what? Someone needs to add this to the OP. In fact: [release]THE GOVERNMENT ARE NOT DOING THIS. Everyone "obtain" every movie, game, and musics they can.
FileServe just pulled the plug. edit: here's a list Megaupload - Closed. FileServe - Stopped filesharing. You can only download your own files. Deleting multiple files. Banning Premium accounts. Closed Affiliate Program. FileJungle - Deleting files. Owned by Fileserve (same as above). Testing USA IP addresses blocking. FileSonic - Stopped filesharing. You can only download your own files. Closed Affiliate Program. Changed server location Jan 22, 2012. Taken down it's Facebook page Now using Digital fingerprinting. Files are being deleted as soon as uploaded (as Hotfile did). UploadStation - Owned by Fileserve (same as above). Testing USA IP addresses blocking. VideoBB - Closed Affiliate Program. Uploaded - Banned U.S. and the FBI went after the owners who are gone. FilePost - Started suspending accounts with infringing material (as Hotfile did) Videoz - Closed Affiliate Program. 4shared - Deleting files with copyright and waits in line at the FBI. MediaFire - Called to testify in the next 90 days and it will open doors pro FBI Org torrent - could vanish with everything within 30 days "he is under criminal investigation" Network Share mIRC - awaiting the decision of the case to continue or terminate Torrent everything. EnterUpload - Down (Redirect)
would you mind not spreading sensationalist trash? do you seriously believe everything you read? half the shit on that list is just uploaders taking precautions to not get arrested themselves -- it does not mean they are being investigated by the FBI or any of that other bullshit(as, if they were, their servers would be confiscated much like megaupload). this OP is just a load of rumormill bullshit too ugh a mod should edit the title or something to 'TABLOID FILE SHARING INFORMATION 2012' lol someone on that last page posted a quote and cited reddit as a source ugh
My favorite part about all this is the fact that this crackdown is pointless Pirates will get their shit from the pirate bay, and pedophiles will get their pornography from the deep web. LITERALLY the only people that they're hurting here are legitimate users.
God damnit... I'll have to download music using torrents too I don't usually pirate stuff with file sharing sites so its its all right for me atm
I've got this crazy idea that maybe Anonymous is behind SOPA, PIPA, and ACTA, and that this is just their way of making the government look bad so that they get a better image. Then again, that idea is really similar to people thinking that 9/11 was an inside job.
The problem is that so many of these "different" file sharing sites are actually owned by the same people. Rapidshare seems to kind of be on its own and that's probably why it's still up. Oh well, I could probably name 10 that are still up. In a couple of months that number will double.
You know what? Someone needs to add this to the OP. In fact: [release]THE GOVERNMENT ARE NOT DOING THIS. THESE WEBSITES ARE VOLUNTARILY TEMPORARILY DISABLING THESE FEATURES.[/release]
Our of fear that the government would go after them. Self-censorship is the worst kind.
IT'S SO FUCKING SENSATIONALIST UP IN HERE THE STENCH OF MISINFORMATION IMBIBES MY NOSTRILS
So basic files which I'd normally get off Mediafire or the such will be no longer available/extremely slow because torrents/P2P are restricted in peak times for me. Usually goes at 1-5kb/s.
I officially hate my country with a burning passion and have absolutely no respect for any of the assholes "representing their people," and certainly absolutely no respect for the imbeciles who continue to vote in these motherfuckers. And that's just depressing.
How about everyone transfers the servers in Sweden? There's even an official religion called Kopimi, which is based on CTRL-C and CTRL-V (piracy)
Well... Fuck.
MegaUpload was the only thing taken down by the FBI, and that was for legitimate illegal activity. The others on this list that have disabled sharing have done so voluntarily. There's no sense in blaming SOPA or PIPA for this no matter how poorly you think of them, they didn't even pass.
What's really bad is that a lot of these other sites are owned by people who were involved with megaupload. Which means THESE sites were also involved with the fraud. This isn't the government's fault. This is the website owners' fault.
Did I ever say it wasn't? America AKA Land of the Free has effectively policed a global site I never voiced an opinion on it, I was stating a fact
So what? Since it affects america they have every right to police it.
