Vine is still pretty popular, it's utterly stupid for them to shut it down considering more sites than just twitter frequently use vine
tumblr comes to mind
Vine creators heading to YouTube when?
most of the famous ones moved to instagram and facebook ages ago
Vine was fucking garbage but there is some gold on there and it'll be a shame how much content will just disappear. I read tumblr a lot, and so many posts there are vines because the tumblr video player is probably the only thing worse than the youtube player.
"Our platform has been loved by millions. Today, we're shutting it down. Thank you."
There has been murmurs about Twitter essentially gauging money for ages now, its no surprise they would shut down a video site, one of the most bandwidth intensive things you can run.
they could've at least pulled a circuit city, where they split off carmax into its own company
which of the two is still around now?
What's gonna happen to bill wurtz?
He has a website and YT channel.
I fail to see how this'll affect him very much.
Not surprising they're shutting down, never heard of it before lmao.
Honestly, good. I see vines everywhere and it became a tool for people to make the most unfunny and easy to watch shit ive ever seen plastered all over facebook. And as said above, Ive heard so many people using vine and hearing that shit loop over and over again is so annoying.
Not surprising they're shutting down, never heard of it before lmao.
You being horrifically out of the loop does not make it a bad product :y

hows life under that rock
Not surprising they're shutting down, never heard of it before lmao.
I mean everyone else has so it's actually a bit more surprising than you'd think.
Not surprising they're shutting down, never heard of it before lmao.
You've never heard of Vine?
How?
I don't really see how snapchat is comparable to vine in terms of use.
Theyre really not comparable but snapchat is far more popular and used for the same purpose. And the best part is is that snapchat is temporary, which is great for a very specific reason

Ok dood, no one is impressed that youre living in the past or socially inept.
Well rip auctioneer beats :(
Speaking of vines, does anyone have the one with the Asian kid sitting in a chair with sunglasses on his head with Bring Me To Life playing and he turns to look at the camera and the glasses slide down over his eyes as "WAKE ME UP INSIDE" drops?
Ive never seen Vine in use but I dont use Twitter and Snapchat is very dominent over here. Seems like more of a thing inNorth America than in Europe though I could be wrong.
Not surprising they're shutting down, never heard of it before lmao.
I have never been on Vine, been to Twitter only a couple times, and rarely read Tumblr. Even I have heard of Vine, plenty of times in fact :v:.
Wonder what all those people who make all of their money from vine compilations are going to do now.

Recycle content.

Musical.ly compilations are currently pretty big
I always forget Musical.ly is even a thing.

Snapchat Stories was kind of the last bit for it being a viable competitor to vine.
Vine is for stupid people anyway, good riddance.
Last fall, nearly 20 of Vine's top 50 creators gathered in a conference room at 1600 Vine Street in Los Angeles to stage an intervention.

The stars had a proposal: If Vine would pay all 18 of them $1.2 million each, roll out several product changes and open up a more direct line of communication, everyone in the room would agree to produce 12 pieces of monthly original content for the app, or three vines per week.
If Vine agreed, they could theoretically generate billions of views and boost engagement on a starving app. If they said no, all the top stars on the platform would walk.
Lmao

Surprised they fit 50 viners into a room - would've thought their ego would take up most of the space.
$1.2 million for up to 6 seconds of content? Fuck off.
A million for one minute? kys

are you guys unable to do simple math or something
that would be about 15 minutes of content a year. Which isn't a huge amount but relative to the amount of thought and effort put into each 6 seconds (since each video is a self-contained creation of its own) combined with the amount of views and the fact that they were sustaining the platform to some extent it's actually not that unreasonable
Fair point, though it's not a math argument. Still, filming 6 seconds a month really isn't much when you're basically doing home videos. Thomas Sanders makes Vines every day, but these guys are willing to dump their fans if they don't get rich.

Yeah, you're right, it still sounds totally ridiculous when you do the math. Maybe not unreasonable, but still ridiculous.

once again
12 6-second videos a month
but i'm sure if you're a big vine star there's a huge amount of planning going into each vine
