They should have at least contacted the military before hand and asked permission.
But they were just on a vacation taking holiday photos, are you seriously suggesting that in a country that portrays itself to be a first world democracy that you should have to ask permission to take photos?

I read on the their forums that they were trespassing or something.

No they were on the island having a holiday and they happened to catch part of the military base in one of their photos.

The bit about them catching it in the background of the photos comes from a eurogamer article a few months ago.

The official statement has changed 3 times now, it used to be super short, then it was super long now its short again.
Apparently there were signs that said 'MILITARY BASE. NO PHOTOGRAPHS ALLOWED' literally every couple of meters on the island yet they still took 32GB worth of photos, according to some Greek anon on /v/.
There are also patrols that actively seek out those with cameras and whatever, so even if the Greek government are being overly uptight, it was kind of stupid of the Devs to ignore the never ending NO PHOTOS ALLOWED signs, probably thinking "its greece lol who cares".
Greek anon on /v/.
Reliable source if I have ever seen one.
I'll now only play Opfor when ARMA III is released.
I'll now only play Opfor when ARMA III is released.
They picked a stupid country to be OpFor, thus they didn't have anything to base their equipment off of so instead they just gave them shitty Czech trainers and Israeli guns.
Inbefore an army of tacticool Arma fans storms the prison, rescues them, and flies out on a fleet of blackhawks.
This Greek apparently tried to "warn" BI.

Why would anyone want to attack Greece anyway?

hmmmm

Someone should make a mission in ARMA 2 or even ARMA 3 in which you gotta rescue the devs.
So, when Amra III is released who's going to be making the mission to rescue the "civilians" while destroying the base from orbit?
So they're being treated like they're dogs. Great.
Imagine being in a room with 25 fat sweaty Greek men
It's pretty unreal and stupid how this could happen. I can't imagine how everyone would feel if they will be spending 20 fucking years in jail for NOTHING and it's so obvious too, it hurts almost to think about it. Why can't common sense control prison? This shit would not happen in any other EU country for sure.

Yeah not even they want Greece anymore.
they weren't even doing anything wrong.
I live near fort bragg, you know, the biggest base on the east coast, and I can go on base, and take pictures of, well, anything. Vehicles, airstrips, houses, anything, and they wont give a single solitary fuck.
I'm calling bullshit.
I am an American living overseas in Crete, Greece; we have a NATO base shared with the Greek Military and American Navy/Armed Forces. I have grown up in a family of military background so I've been to multiple bases all over the United States and Europe; they are extremely strict about taking photos. You will be detained if they see you are doing something suspicious. (Taking pictures of airplane tail numbers, airstrips, installation buildings)
There have been multiple times here in which a group of individuals had been spotted and arrested for taking pictures of American and Greek aircraft tail numbers. This is called tail spotting, which "spies" positioned in or around other bases report when a plane is leaving base A and lands in base B in order to figure out important routes, response times, etc. This is why the Greeks are especially strict with their espionage laws.
In fact, ever since a Greek Pilot had been clipped and died out in the Souda Bay harbor from a group of Turkish F-16 fighter jets flying into Greek airspace the military has become much more aggressive. A lot of the time Turkish fighters fly into Greek airspace just to get a reaction; so I'm constantly seeing Greek fighters scrambling at the base and flying around Chania and the North Crete region.
Though I think this all has been blown out of proportion I have hard time feeling pity for these people. There are signs posted all over the fences and perimeter that strictly say, "Photography and Videography is strictly prohibited." When in another country you are to respect that host country's laws. They should have consulted official military on Limnos for permission. They broke Greek law, and regardless of what people think there's no dancing around that.
Do they really think these guys were spying on them? What the fuck does Greece have that is even worth spying militarily?
Oh right, probably their 4th Reich army they're amassing, you know once the Golden Dawn take over.
Greece has a pretty big army.
Mostly because they bought tanks and submarines with money borrowed from the EU that should've been used for helping the economy.

There was one but it got taken down.

the Greek law can go fuck itself because it's putting innocent people in jail.
I wouldn't be surprised if the poor guys ever get out of this, they'd put a big insult to Greece in there, maybe bomb the shit out of the place, or knowing how all these foreign countries are so sensitive over small things, make a small half-assed insult in one character's line.
They will get out of this, right?
What the fuck, Greece.
I know, you'd think with the way their country is, they'd beg to be given cash.
Inbefore an army of tacticool Arma fans storms the prison, rescues them, and flies out on a fleet of blackhawks.
Of course the blackhawks will ram each other because of inexperienced pilots.
Why the fuck is even Greece in EU, just so we could pay for their lazy asses? How many countries in EU pay Greece to bailout now?
Of course the blackhawks will ram each other because of inexperienced pilots.
BS. They learned to fly on Battlefield.
We will crusade to the greek embassy on machinegun mounted cows.
BS. They learned to fly on Battlefield.
So they will run into the ground instead of each other.
Gotcha.
