uhhh
uhhh
I suppose places like Costa Rica would kinda count, right?
Imagine if this guy made president.
Public Schooling is a joke now. Needs some sort of reform, American high schools are just social places with no real strive for education. During my highschool years I was doing half my classes at a college and the other half at a highschool, and there is a huge difference in the education mindset.
Imagine if this guy made president.
Our current President knows all 57 states...
This article was written very poorly. The candidate doesn't mean go back in time hundreds of years and discriminate against minorities and women, he means have privately owned and operated schools competing to be the best.

And poor people cannot afford the private schools.
And on an episode of last night's colbert report, one of the leaders of the tea party announces that all of the "tea party candidates" are not actually endorsed by the tea party.
And here I was thinking it was a grassroots movement composed of the very people who are to vote for them...
Considering the current state of public schools in the United States, I don't think anyone would notice. (This is not an agreement, people.)
The GOP has nothing to do with the tea party, bro.
Except almost every Republican.
Exactly. Don't let one insane guy make you vote for the democrats federally.

Well, yeah, don't vote for him. He's obviously insane.
Find me 3 tea party protesters that don't agree with him.
You need to read up on both of the parties ideals then. The Tea Party is extremely far right when compared to the GOP.
Who is extremely far right..
To be honest, if there were ways the poor could pay for this... It wouldn't be that bad. I've experienced it first hand, the Texas public school system is abysmal at best. The teachers hate it, the students hate it but the group in charge who know nothing about schooling are loving it. Private public schools would encourage school to school competition. This would also remove school districting, which is a joke. If students who's parents are poor got financial help, the idea could work

as opposed to the person you support who thinks Africa is a country.
how many states did Obama visit at that time? 47.
Do you know what a slip of the tongue is? Or has your brain officially melted into a jesus/Ronald Reagan flavoured soup?

Private schooling doesn't work
i don't think a 10 year old is worried about competition in school lol

Where minorities are discriminated?
I can't imagine what our country would be like without public schooling. We already have too many people who come away from it without having learned anything.
By competition was referring to school education rating etc. Not competiton like a football team.
As of I believe the reason why people are so uneducated now is because public schools are on their knees to the state. Unrealistic ways of measuring success (aka state tests), lack of any real motivation to go past the minimum standards of the state. As long as the schools students pass a state test the school gets it's paycheck, and students are left high and dry with a piss poor education. You guys remember the bullshit in Texas about replacing key American figures with no names withmore christian values? Yea that's bigotry coming from the state.
It's a darn shame
And texas schools wouldn't do that?
Private schooling doesn't work
Care to explain?
Where minorities are discriminated?
And again?
"o Cost.
o Teachers are not required to have a teaching degree, just knowledge of the subject they will be teaching.
o Less diverse choices in subjects.
o No special education classes available.
o Students must pass an entrance exam to be admitted.
o Most private schools are religious based schools. "
[editline]14th October 2010[/editline]
That kinda ruins the whole foundation.

Private schools actually have much better scoring students who do better and are usually better equipped to deal with the real world and/or continue on to college.
Where minorities are discriminated?
Where do you think minorities are discriminated in private schools? As long as they got the money, they can join in. Didn't you see the last couple seasons of Fresh Prince of Bel Air?
Libertarianism is cool, but uh...
Education in this country is a fucking joke, but completely cutting public education would do nothing. We need major reforms though. IE Separating fucking sports. My school spends shit tons of its budget on a football team that loses pretty much every game.
are these people fucking retarded
Every time I hear about a Tea Partier or Republican making a comment like this I ask myself how much stupider can they get, and somehow, each time, they manage to top their last comment with this one being the stupidest. But I know sometime soon someone is going to make a comment that makes this one look smart. It just boggles the mind that there are people in this country that think like that. But, somehow they manage to go even further and further to the right.
Silly Tea Party candidates! They just want to replace the government with corporations.
[editline]14th October 2010[/editline]
What could go wrong?
See it's funny because countries that are ahead of us in scores and dropout rates probably have less private schools, so, go fuck yourself Tea Party.
Better yet go perform some witchcraft while dressed up as SS Officers.

You know nothing about private schooling.
*Well, yeah, but many have financial assistance solutions for students, they can be pricks about it, though.
*This varies by state, and/or the administration of the school.
*Not really, most private schools offer a wider range of curriculums than that of public, and some even tailor your curriculum to earn a place in your desired school of higher learning.
*Once again, this is contingent on the school itself. The one I went to had a special education program far better than what I've seen in public schooling. They actually helped the kids.
*Another one contingent on the school, and for most of the time, the exam is for placement, similar to a SAT.
*Eh, sometimes.
Any way, private schooling is far better than that of public school. But, eliminating public schooling is not the answer. It just needs a fucking whole lot of reform.

Where minorities are discriminated?
There are plenty of private schools in America. They have a higher standard of education than public schools.
I went to a secular private school for 3 years. Much higher education than public school. And there are plenty of course choices. More than public school, actually.
And the reason I switched to private school after freshman year is because the school I went to closed. Along with dozens of others.
Public schools have failing grades and poor budgeting. Private has the exact opposite.
Abolishing public schools would be fucking retarded. Reforming them would be a better idea.
Of course reforming is the best option, but as long as politicians in congress are just trying to stay in office, nothing will get done.
Which is why we must amend the constitution to institute congressional term limits.
Actually, most conservatives I know think the GOP is too centrist.
Perhaps those conservatives are too far right.
That's a lot of effort to get back at your fifth-grade teacher
