• Obamacare opponents urge people to burn their Obamacare registration cards - except there's no such

Holy shit, I'm so glad I'm not american.
Obamacare is a terrible bill though. Insurance companies funded Obama's campaign and Obamacare is essentially the same shit as the bank bailout but with insurance companies. Giving insurance companies unlimited access to tax money with no limit on the overhead they can create on their rates and claim as "additional expense 'for safety'" is an awful idea. I mean come on: why is the Left in America trusting a bill written by Mitt Romney?! Because Democrats in Congress just happen to be pedaling it? Is that all? Has nobody else read it? It's the slimiest, most corporate-pandering abuse of finance allocation passed through Congress since the bill that nullified Glass-Steagall. We should just have socialized insurance like every sane country has. [editline]Edit:[/editline] Although I don't agree with the people in the OP, because the people in the OP hate it because it's "Socialism," which is a ridiculous premise and they should be ashamed of their lack of empathy. I hate it because it isn't Socialism. [editline]Edit:[/editline] And people alway say that "Socialized insurance is expensive; look at Medicare!" FYI, a good section of Medicare spending is Plan D, from which Congress removed the ability to negotiate drug prices to intentionally inflate overhead so that they could build a false case against socialized insurance. The original Plan D set a cap on pharma prices and wouldn't have cost more than 8-10% our GDP; the altered version removed that cap, which allows pharmacies to tap into infinite amounts of tax money by adjusting the drug prices, which brings the spending up another 10-20% GDP AND creates a massive sinkhole through which tax money can flow to pharma companies, who paid for these people to get elected in the first place.
I'm not asking because I agree or disagree with you, but where can I find the bill to read it for myself? I've never read it and don't know the first place to look.
I can't go see the doctor to find out why my toes have been numb for 2 weeks. I can't afford that shit. I'm in the process of trying to apply for the Medicaid, but that will likely take a long time. Hopefully the issue goes away before then...
That's probably something quite serious, if anything turns black you should probably seek emergency treatment.

Before then, there were a lot of interests involved in any bill that got passed, to a degree that watered down every bill, whether any particular caucus of the Democrats wanted it or not. I don't think the Affordable Care Act works, I think there's a lot of problems with it, but if nothing else you won't be able to be denied insurance for 'pre-existing conditions'. Personally I'd much prefer nationalised healthcare, but there's very little a single person can do.
Human health as a money-making industry is just wrong and barbaric in itself.
A million times THIS. The capitalist free market is not the automatic best solution to everything. The free market system should be judged on how it serves the people, and in the healthcare sector it has failed spectacularly at providing affordable access to quality care.

I really don't see how anyone can oppose this or any type of "socialized" medicine that isn't still stuck in the Cold War and hates "evil socialism" or something. Are there any rational arguments against universal healthcare that don't include a lack of empathy or ignorance? While I agree something like the NHS would be the best, America is so ass-backwards that we were lucky this passed.

But yeah, massive logical fallacies abound in opponents to socialized health care. The health care system is 100 years behind.
Funny, I'm 16, and I'm normally young and healthy, except for one thing. Pilonidal cysts, google it, but be warned, it's not pretty. 3 surgeries including a z-plasty and another one coming, if my parents didn't have health insurance we'd be so screwed. And my mom is close to retirement and will no longer be covered under her job, so we need to see what Obamacare will do for us. I guess even if you don't think you need it, it's good to have?

I bet the average life span of an American could be bumped up two years if people there were less afraid to go to the doctor due to the huge costs involved
I've actually not gone to a doctor for over two years since a lack of healthcare. My new job has recently provided healthcare at an affordable monthly rate so I'll finally be able to get a check-up, and talk to a doctor about some things I've experienced.
That's probably something quite serious, if anything turns black you should probably seek emergency treatment.
No I understand that, I'm not stupid. If I notice something severe like that happen, I'll be sure to go to the ER. As of right now, the inside half of my big toe on both feet have been numb. It's been like this for two weeks and it hasn't gotten any better or worse. My family thinks it might be my shoes, but I've been wearing the shoes for a while now, before the numbness started, and on my days off, which is like 3 days, it still doesn't get any better.
Saw this on the Colbert Report, it was almost too easy to make fun of. So much so it's almost unfair. I laughed my ass off, nonetheless.
wtf you abnormal
I dip plain salted chips into chocolate pudding I declare myself a genius and regret nothing.
