I don't believe in anything. Not god, science, or the flying spaghetti monster. Just go with the flow of life, man.
that's a belief, you lose.
I don't believe in no god or any religious belief out there anymore because I just don't get addicted to it like other people. What even puts me off further from religion is how too many people out there are too fanatical of their beliefs.
I wished this kind of thread would be rated informative which is what the article is trying to do instead of being some "Yeah! Religion going down, winners all around".
Who cares really? I don't care what another person's religion or whatever is, it's how they interpret them that interests me. No one in/with the same religion (or lack thereof) is the same and it's a shame that it is treated like that.

ratings don't matter.

I instantly thought of the nihilists in the big Lebowski.

"Ja ve belief in nothing"
Religion is not necessarily a bad thing unless it outright advocates violence or actions of that nature. I don't believe that its primary purpose is to cause mayhem and destruction wherever its followers may reside. It's there to answer questions, give us some structure to place our world in. It's just that people can be idiots and start doing idiotic things in the name of their beliefs.
In other words, It's not religions that kill people. It's idiots that kill people.
That's not to say that some religions don't have their flaws. Take the Hindu caste system for instance with the belief in a 'non-existent' untouchable class. That's just awful and is not beneficial for the progression of humanity in any way. Fortunately, with time systems like these begin to erode and crumble when people realize just how harmful it is.
I've met a few kids at my school who are atheist and I live in the Bible belt.

My hope is that that number naturally becomes 5 out of 5.
I'd never try to take someone's religion away and I don't care if someone is religious, but I believe the world would be better if people simply weren't religious.

obviously, otherwise he wouldn't have said it
what kind of question is that.
can't you read?
dumbest post i've ever read
Why? Because it's the norm doesn't make it less of a belief. You could easily call someone who ignores science ignorant, but it's still a belief.

Solipsism isn't entirely dead.
You don't "believe" in facts, if they're flat out facts.
Holy shit, how many times do we have to discuss this?

I would be surprised in fox was willing to call them americans.

Gravity, evolution, friction, air resistance, physics, etc etc, are not beliefs.

You clearly have no understanding of what science actually is. I would suggest that you educate yourself on the subject before you make any more of a buffoon out of yourself.

Science isn't a fact, it's an epistemological method. It doesn't exist because it's a concept, an idea. Calling an idea objective is dangerous, and stifling. If we'd done that, science would be much less developed than it is today and it would have contributed little in comparison to what it has.

I never suggested that. You either don't understand the basics of metaphysics or you misread me entirely.

Metaphysics is logic; logic is a science. Metaphysics establishes the basis from which we use scientific method. Science will always be something we observe.

He's not attacking the conclusions OF that epistemology, but rather the definition of "fact" and "knowledge". The discussion is HOW we know things, and what does it MEAN to know

The whole point of modern science that you don't have to believe it, you can go and do the experiments yourself and see firsthand the results.
