Google earth?"
It says: RLS (w/e it means) - mode Battle work. that's if you translate it word to word, but it actually means: Working in Battle Mode. I guess.
Russia opposes the program, saying it threatens the balance of nuclear forces and demands legally-binding guarantees that the system will not be used against it.
I'm not sure how useful legally-binding agreements are going to be after a state launches a nuclear attack on another
DEFCON much
It's a myth that as soon as someone launches a nuke = everyone goes frenzy batshit insane and launches all their nukes too all over the place. All it boils down to is if you launched a nuke at someone, and the world didn't descend into an ashy apocalyptic wasteland, then the country that first launched the nuke is obligated by international law to pay to the affected countries. Kind of like Germany in both world wars. Basically, everyone would know who is responsible.
except if you were going to launch a nuclear weapon against a similarly armed weapon, why wouldn't you attempt to cause as much damage as possible considering the probability of massive retaliation?
That room looks a lot like my department at work, only that we are using the big map screen for displaying bandwidth usage and not ICBM threats :v:
except if you were going to launch a nuclear weapon against a similarly armed weapon, why wouldn't you attempt to cause as much damage as possible considering the probability of massive retaliation?
That's what I thought the whole theory of MAD was about.
Yessss, fight missile defense with missile defense. Stop threatening eachother.
That sounds like the opposite of an arms race. Like... an armor race or something.
-and if the European Missile Shield was meant purely as a defensive measure, not directed towards Russia, then no one should have a problem with them using an anti-ICBM radar station.
I don't think anyone cares that they are, really. I don't
It amazes me how it can reach all the way to the mid-Atlantic ocean, I bet US strategic missile commanders are flipping a shit right now.
Just because they can track it doesn't mean they can take it down. That's the big issue with our missile defense system.
Can't they use it in combination with S-400/500 systems and such already deployed in Kaliningrad, they could also deploy ABM-3's or 4's.
Your post was talking about the maximum range, which they probably can't deploy defenses fast enough.
"deploy fast enough", what are you talking about. It takes less then 30 minutes to deploy a S-series system into full combat duty. I'm pretty sure if he is going to put a radar system into full combat duty he is going to host ABM's and S-'s into combat duty in Kaliningrad aswell. It makes sense.
