30 was our goal, it feels more cinematic
"We like to put feces in your food because it makes it taste much better" There are things that are subjective and then there are things that are objectively wrong. Wtf is wrong with you Ubisoft? Not too long ago I liked you as a publisher. :(
Real life, movement is 48 fps anyways
Oh my god, they are firing off cliches like a sniper using bollocks for ammunition.
Real life, movement is 48 fps anyways
What's with people believing that sort of stuff? Life isn't at a set fps, it doesn't work like that.
I am a huge supporter of maintaining 24fps for movies but for games higher better gogogo [editline]9th October 2014[/editline]
What's with people believing that sort of stuff? Life isn't at a set fps, it doesn't work like that.
Also a flat screen is completely different from real life [editline]9th October 2014[/editline] 30 is bearable but 60 is a lot better it's just objectively better for 3d action games [editline]9th October 2014[/editline] I would probably take 1080p 30fps rather than 900p 60fps, but that's just a personal preference that varies form person to person
The cinematic argument is such utter BULLSHIT because a frame in a movie and a frame in a game is SO VERY FUCKING DIFFERENT. One frame in a 24 FPS movie shows EVERYTHING that happened for 1/24th of a second which is why it's never sharp if something moved even slightly during that 1/24th of a second. One frame in a game shows an INSTANT in time which is why each frame is always sharp (the choppiness can be alleviated in games by using Motion Blur though). That's why 24FPS is acceptable in a movie while it looks crazy choppy in a game and that doesn't include the extra input latency.
Not if Kojima can help it!
I set my monitor to 640x480 and 16 colours, still looks gorgeous and feels better to me
It's more of a cinematic experience.
Yeah, this company pretty much reminds of this Comcast's ad. [sp]Pretend that Comcast is Ubisoft.[/sp]
this is ubisoft to me [t]http://coloradopeakpolitics.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Train_wreck_at_Montparnasse_1895-250x300.jpg[/t] yep, right good job. Honestly don't even want to justify why 60 fps is better at this point. I'm pretty much inclined to say only a moron would say 30 is better at all. the only recent game I could manage to get over a 30 fps lock is dark souls. And even then I was being generous. an fps is IMPOSSIBLE to bare at 30, let alone 30 fps. in fact, I'd go so far as saying 60 fps doesn't do it enough for me.
Oh once he's out of the hospital, he's gonna have a field day if he can muscle through the chemo. That said knowing the moxie that John Bain has on-tap even on an off-day, he'd probably be tweeting against it right now if he wasn't mellowed out by all the morphine. Hell he did a Vine from the hospital bed that was pretty much "Metalopolis... Oh god give me more morphine..." about an hour ago, so even WITH the morphine he's still a honey badger and a half, even if said honey badger and a half is swimming in laudanum. Still it's kinda depressing to see him with those tubes in his nose... But enough about TB, let's get back to bitching about how goddamn lazy, disrespectful and honourless Ubisoft is.
Is he doing alright though? He always sounds like he's at the very least pretty fine in his videos, despite knowing that he has chemo and stuff... [editline]9th October 2014[/editline]
I think these TVs use frame blending or something like that, essentially "blending" two frames together and interjecting it between them to give an illusion of smoothness, regardless of the fact that the source material is 30 fps.
Ah so that's why it looks smoother than 30. It still technically isn't called "over 30 fps" right?
why don't they just run games at 45 fps? why does it HAVE to be 60 or 30 fps?
Yes.
Its actually funny since the demo that has the video excerpt "Pop Muzik" by M, runs at 60 fps and its actually really nice. Its far smoother than the video on Youtube anyway. So an player for video on an 8088 can run faster than what Ubisoft believes should be standard. :v:
why don't they just run games at 45 fps? why does it HAVE to be 60 or 30 fps?
I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure multiples of 30 are the best places for games to be given the way hardware works right now. You get stuff like screen tearing etc otherwise (hence why u can use V-sync) I dunno if there's more to it
why don't they just run games at 45 fps? why does it HAVE to be 60 or 30 fps?
It fits nicer in the established video formats. The minimum for most modern displays is 60 hz (or some higher multiple). 30 and 60 just fit without doing any sort of pulldown or interpolation. I mean, you COULD (we can play 24 fps video just fine) and for the average user, they would probably never notice. But its not standard practice.
I dont really like 60 fps.
You should've thought about stepping back to 30 FPS before people started getting used to 60, you lazy morons.
Maybe they should stop adding effects which kill all fps like: SSAO, DoF, GI and etc?
I dont really like 60 fps.
No one does.:quagmire:
Well to be honest I'd rather have splitscreen over 60 FPS. It'll be a repeat of the last gen titles where developers sacrifice local multiplayer for GFX which was really disappointing.
I miss split screen but back in the days when consoles were relevant to maintain the same framerate with split screen they'd tone down the res and lower the fov not just say 'split screen or 60 fps, you choose'.
If your going to make a graphically stunning game, upping the FPS is goddamn essential if it can be done. [editline]9th October 2014[/editline] Having it as an option at least.
Maybe they should stop adding effects which kill all fps like: SSAO, DoF, GI and etc?
I don't know, I think etc can be a really cool effect sometimes.
Maybe they should stop adding effects which kill all fps like: SSAO, DoF, GI and etc?
SSAO looks like shit in many games, and DOF usually is disabled for me because it feels poor SSAO doesn't give nearly the grafix it should FPS drop it gives on older hardware.

[editline]9th October 2014[/editline] Having it as an option at least.
I always turn down graphics until I can get a stable 60FPS with the exception of RTS and turn based games. I haven't found a single game where the lower graphics had a bigger impact than the smooth framerate did.
I don't know, I think etc can be a really cool effect sometimes.
Yeah but on PC you can turn it off and the framerate will double, on the consoles you don't have that choice it's 30 fps 900p or nothing at all.
I really wish consoles offered graphics options. I would love to be able to reduce fidelity for 60fps. So many games on console barely even meet 30fps, GTA IV I think was one that seemed to hover more around 20. Near unplayably bad.
SSAO looks like shit in many games, and DOF usually is disabled for me because it feels poor SSAO doesn't give nearly the grafix it should FPS drop it gives on older hardware.
I always disable DoF and AO. DoF because I find it dumb and unnecessary, and AO because it usually makes things look really strange while using tons of resources
