I don't know that feels more racist than what sherrod did
He was fucking around, Sherrod wasn't.
He hosted a radio show.
Sherrod handled government money.
I care more about the government employee.
Also this
I would also like to point out that said comments took place 22 years ago.
This forum is quite obviously a liberal forum for the most part. Nearly every thread title is bashing republicans, christianity, the tea party, inserting race into nearly every issue where it doesn't belong, etc. Also there is a large population of 12 year olds here who think that the logic they developed from playing video games applies to the real world i.e "I hope this person physically gets hurt because they disagree with me" demonstrates the childish mindset. Basically if you don't agree with the left here you're basically an idiot and a racist before they even finish reading your post.
This is 80% of the internet.
This thread sparked me, you all are fucking hypocritical sociopaths. A huge amount of you have no idea of what the fuck you are talking about and try to act like you do.
It's the internet, it's easier to be detached from emotion.
And last i checked 3% of the population are considered sociopathic. only sociopathic person I've run into on this forum is chris01234.
A lot of you also wish death on people for their own damned opinions. And with non political news, you make bad tasted puns on things like BABIES DIEING AND GIRLS TAKING THEIR OWN LIFE, and when someone tells you that you that it is in very bad taste, you reply with some stupid 4chan bullshit.
I agree puns are stupid and should be made ban-able again.
ITN is worse than fast threads, you all sicken me.
Don't like it? then get the fuck out, no one is making you post here.
On topic:
Sherrod should be given her job back and should go after all involved in court.

That's the case with a lot of things, but the media still targets them anyway.
What's different or unfair about this woman's situation?

Wishing death on people and celebrating people dieing because of their opinions I would think is sociopathic.
Can't remember the name, but there was this one radio host who pretty much makes fun of everyone. One time he said something about some all woman black basketball team. People got enraged, the media covered him like crazy, and he was forced to go off the air. He even admitted he was wrong and apologized, but the apology was ignored. If you truly want a source I can find it for you.
wasn't that the guy who called them all nappy headed hoes or something along those lines?

You might as well call every solder a sociopath because they do the same thing.

Yes he was talking about Don Imus.

I think the 22 years thing is different enough
Damnit Fox, even when I thought you reached your dumbest, you find a way to become dumber.
It's not Fox, it's their dumbass internet reporters.

Forgot to add "innocent" into that.

In WW1 there was a truce on Christmas and people started to get out and play SOCCER with the opposing side, so many officers wanted to put an end to that so the soldiers wouldn't see that the other person is infarct a human fighting for the same reasons.
And that all brings me to my original statement.
It's the internet, it's easy to be detached from emotions and to dehumanize other people.
I'd also like to note that innocence is subjective.
She had a detractor called Mr. Jealous?

Oh hey I remember you you're the scumbag from the Glenn Beck thread.
Hmm, from what I heard, it seems she resigned before the fox story broke. At the very least, before Hannity ever ran it.

Oh yes I'm a scumbag, because i want something bad to happen to someone who willfully manipulates the ignorant masses to make money.
Bad things happen to bad people.
Blind? Maybe not.
Does he deserve something to happen to him? Yes.
Will i loose any sleep over him going blind? No.
Here's a better summary of what happened:
Tea Party blasted by NAACP for not ousting the racists within their ranks (they exist, I know it's not a racist organization but many members are)
Breitbart posts a 4 minute clip on youtube from a 40 minute speech from an NAACP freedom funds dinner about overcoming racism. Basically the woman in question, Shirley Sherrod, had suffered real racism. Her father was killed by the KKK. This caused her to have a biased outlook on white people in general for much of the 80's where she campaigned for black farmer's rights. One day in 1986, a white farmer came in asking her for help. This is where the edited video begins. She was talking about how, because of her prejudice, dismissed him as acting "superior" and thinking that he was part of the problem She was considering not helping him. This is where the edited video end. She followed by saying this is where she realized it wasn't about race, it was about wealth. That white people weren't better off for their race, but that rich people in general are better off.
Fox posts edited video, pundits comment on it, etc. It's basically a "see look! The NAACP is racist too! Look at them! How dare they come after the Tea Party."
Other news networks put the video up, probably because it does indeed appear to be video evidence. You can't really "photoshop" a video and the video itself contains no commentary or noticeable edits.
Shirley Sherrod receives notice from her boss that she is on leave from her job for her "racism" and that racism is not tolerated. USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack ended up forcing her to resign.
NAACP condemns Sherrod's actions claiming they don't tolerate discrimination in any form. Note that the last few points occur within a few hours of each other.
The unedited video surfaces, Vilsack says he will conduct an investigation. Fox spins this as the Obama administration overreacting, despite the fact that they posted the edited youtube video as a valid source. Also around this time, the white farmers in questions appear on CNN and voice their support.

They have several pages and basically say what I've said here, only better.
They pulled this same shit with the undercover ACORN videos thing.
Breitbart should never be considered a legitimate source
Objection, Fox News was given the video pre-edited. The full video should still have the parts of the edited videos.
one part is around 2:00, the other starts around 17:00 (context at about 16:30)

You decide
It's not like Fox was the only source to run the video...

Breitbart gave Fox news the edited version. Fox did no fact checking, nor did they care about fact checking. This is the same shit as the bullshit ACORN videos that were also heavily edited. The full video was posted much later than the original edited video. Fox news is entirely in the wrong for not fact checking.
Now Glaber, do you think she was being racist after viewing the full video?
Hmm, After watching the full, video, yes, but only very slightly. Her original decision for helping the farmer did seem to be based on race, but it sounds like she did change and went all out to help. Something the edit left out. If I were to give a percentage, I'd say about maybe 2%
She is wrong on a few things though. Now is not the time to become a homeowner because of Obama.
Also the vids were edited before even Brightbart got them. So I'm starting to suspect someone wanted those edited videos put out by Fox so as to discredit themselves. Of course I currently don't have access to the TV channel.
*edit* Note Opinion is subject to change.
Oh hey I remember you, you're the guy that's never learned when he's proven wrong about things.
Oh hey I remember you, it's that guy who has the exact same avatar as JDKv21 I mean goddamn
it doesn't really make sense that she says: "'helping farmers wasn't so much about race but was 'about the poor versus those who have''" then "she focused on encouraging blacks, particularly the younger generation, to do more to help themselves."
Is it just me or does it seem like she counters her original statement with a racially biased encouragement?
or am i doing what fox did.
where did this come from
No idea, but it still appears to be true :aaaaa:
Her comments seemed pretty racist to me. I approve of this.
Funny how Facepunch is a forum - a place where different opinions can collide and be discussed in a safe enviroment. In this forum different opinions aren't allowed - You're automatically deemed a homophobe, racist, idiot, degenerate, catholic, redneck etc., just for viewing the world differently.
Keep up the tolerance of other opinions, guys, you're doing it great right now.
what if your opinion is ignorant
