My Inu approves.
In reality, I find this silly, but regardless, I will cheer it on, as I love the breed.
people, if you are sick of a meme and it isn't funny to you anymore, that doesn't make it objectively unfunny. Don't act like it does
See, this is sensible talk. There's nothing wrong with a lot of memes in general, but it's their misuse and overuse that start causing problems. It's also personal preference on if you hate or don't hate memes, and personal preference should stay right where it is. Aggressive prosletyzing of 'dis meeme suxx and u suk 2' doesn't help all that much either. I'm tired of overuse too but people don't really understand how and when to use memes much anymore to begin with. And when one meme gets posted, it usually ends up causing a flood of more of them, which isn't really conducive to contributing much to a discussion to begin with.
A bit of an update, as this car has won the design contest and will run at Talladega.

Also, the owner of the car has been reached out to and apparently the makers of NASCAR 14: The Game want the Dogecar in it. In addition, the owner as also said in a recent AMA that he expects a diecast to be made of the Dogecar by Lionel Racing.
Doge is love.
Doge is life.
I'll admit, that car's design is the most competent use of an internet meme I've ever seen.
I'm ready to make puns when Dogecoin crashes. The car, I mean.
Imagine getting stuck behind that car for the full 499 laps.
Imagine facepunch funding something silly like this.
We could call it the PunchBuggy. :v:
Imagine getting stuck behind that car for the full 499 laps.
is bitcoin in a nascar game? I thought not
I'm still not sure how they pulled off the sponsorship- to become the primary sponsor of a car (main hood logo, branding rights, etc), you need to pay something like $300k-500k, but the doge donations only rack up to the equivalent of $30,000.
maybe the car being in races will explode its value for a while

why is this still a thing.
stop.
It even has sub-reddits on the side.. this is hilarious.
i hate memes but that is actually hilarious

They're also getting a lot of publicity from this.
If I bought your steam account for 3 grams of sand then sand is a currency.
Only when at least a 3rd party accepts that sand.
What has society come to.
The race is going to be on May 4th on Fox (local channel) if you are interested in watching it.
If I bought your steam account for 3 grams of sand then sand is a currency.
If I bought your steam account for 12 oxes and 3 pigs then that is also currency? No, it's bartering. Does sand in your example have a standardized value?
As much as Dogecoin has a standardized value, it's still based off another currency. It's not a regulated fiat currency.

You do realize I was over exaggerating as a joke right?

It's bartering, but the oxes and pigs are still considered to be currency, as currency is literally fucking anything used to facilitate transactions.

best part about talladega :D
It's bartering, but the oxes and pigs are still considered to be currency, as currency is literally fucking anything used to facilitate transactions.
Nah, cause currency has no inherent worth, unlike oxes/pigs.
A currency (from Middle English: curraunt, "in circulation") in the most specific use of the word refers to money in any form when in actual use or circulation

Money is historically an emergent market phenomenon establishing a commodity money, but nearly all contemporary money systems are based on fiat money.[4] Fiat money, like any check or note of debt, is without intrinsic use value as a physical commodity
The value of dogecoin is based solely on people using it out of irony.
It is magical irony-money. We are living in the future, people.
Imagine getting stuck behind that car for the full 499 laps.
499 miles actually. 188 laps.
How much do you want to bet this car will get into a massive collision halfway through the first lap?
Nah, cause currency has no inherent worth, unlike oxes/pigs.

Some definitions of currency:
Money or other item used to facilitate transactions.

something that is used as a medium of exchange; money.
Fiat money, or money in general, is not the only kind of currency. From Wikipedia:
A much more general use of the word currency is anything that is used in any circumstances, as a medium of exchange.

Some definitions of currency:

but in the real world not libertarian fantasy land
any real successful currency with any shot of being used by the average person for an average transaction, is fiat money
Some definitions of currency:

yeah i know, im just saying things that might have an intrinsic value (ie sand, cattle etc.) aren't really currency because they are being traded for their intrinsic value over their face value.
