Why is it man is more afraid of spiders than a vicious wolf?
I guess it's natural, some spiders being extremely venomous and all. Stepping on a spider (with your bare foot) or squishing it with your hand could poison you easily, they're small, fast and hard to see; whereas wolfs are easy to see, they (usually) won't be able to kill you with a small bite. Although Wolfs probably do present a more upfront danger because of their general aggressiveness and the fact that they are usually in packs.

You at least know when a wolf has bitten you.

Looks awesome. I've always found tarantulas to be cool, but smaller spiders (like daddy long legs) scare the SHIT out've me. Giant hairy limbs > tiny fiber-like ones any day.
I guess that's why centipedes gross me out too.
Not to mention centipedes are way nastier. Most spiders will bite you only in absolute defense and tend to shy away from people as much as they can. They tend to only bite when you accidentally hit them in some way or get way too close.
Centipedes, meanwhile, are colossal pricks. They're aggressive as fuck and are insanely fast when they want to be. And they bite multiple times. Piss off one of the bigger species (Which isn't very hard.) and you'll have quite a few chomps in you. Venomous and insanely painful chomps at that.

golden silk wtf
I'm pretty sure the orb weavers here in australia are the same as they were 150 million years ago.
In the bush right next to my house, you will find many orb weavers as big as this.

If I walked through one of their webs accidentally, especially if it was with my head, I would run around like I was on fire, and scream like a little girl. Manhood does not apply to that situation, I think that's a universal agreement.
You bastard Budspoonce.

I dont want to live in Australia anymore. Jeremy Clarkson was right when he said we were full of spiders.
daddy long legs are fucking awesome, i used to let them crawl around on my hand
even when kids told me that bullshit about them being the most poisonous spider ever, i didn't care because they were total bros and wouldn't hurt me
There is an urban legend stating that daddy long-legs spiders have the most potent venom of any spider, but that their chelicerae (fangs) are either too small or too weak to puncture human skin; the same legend is also repeated of the harvestman and crane fly, also called "daddy long-legs" in some locales. Indeed, pholcid spiders do have a short fang structure (called uncate). However, brown recluse spiders also have uncate fang structure, but are able to deliver medically significant bites. Either pholcid venom is not toxic to humans or there is a musculature difference between the two arachnids, with recluses, being hunting spiders, possessing stronger muscles for fang penetration.[5]
In 2004, the Discovery Channel show MythBusters set out to test the daddy long-legs myth (Season 1, Episode 13 "Buried in Concrete"). After measuring the spider's fangs at approximately 0.25 mm (average human skin thickness varies from about 0.5mm to 4mm), the show's host was apparently bitten, although the bite produced little more than a mild short-lived burning sensation. This appears to confirm the suspicion that pholcids can penetrate human skin, but that their venom is practically harmless to humans. Additionally, recent research by Alan Van Dyke has shown that pholcid venom is actually relatively weak in its effects on insects as well
now you can tell those kids they're dumbfucks
That whole myth comes from the fact that they can prey on more venomous spiders because they're agile but people originally assumed it was because they were more venomous.
Note to self: Never enter a thread about spiders while under a blanket. :ohdear:
Whenever I see pictures of spiders, I always feel a tingling on my foot...

The key is not to try too hard to make something unfunny into something funny - it usually ends up worse.
I can pick my moment better, if that's what you're asking :P
I fucking hate spiders, one time at school I was taking a test and I saw something move on my hand so I looked at it and I saw a fucking spider crawling out of my sweatshirt. Freaked out in the middle of a silent classroom.
