Being mentally unstable doesn't excuse what he did.
Reading the post where it mentions what he's been doing during his episodes, it kinda does. If you're mentally sick you aren't really in control of your actions and instead should get treatment pretty much quickly. Of course CN can't really keep employing such a liability to an extent. There's a difference between someone who goes out to intentionally do bad stuff and someone who is sick to the level of not being able to fully control their actions. Their victims might feel the same as the actions are the same, but there's a reason why will and motive play a role in criminal law for instance.
So he was mentally unstable when this happened, I still bet that nobody will care and keep calling him scum or whatever on these news articles.
Even if Skyler is not an evil person, I can kind of understand why CN would have to let go someone who was doing things like;
On the same day the assault happened, Skyler also walked through the streets shirtless screaming at cops. I saw him try to smoke cigarettes through his nose and drink days old olive juice.
Even if he didn't have control over it.
Clarence was godawful.
Clarence is a slice of life anime without the anime.
http://jeffrowegifs.tumblr.com/post/90700109592/skyler-page It would seem he had a huge fucking breakdown when this occured, I think.

Skyler is currently in the hospital receiving treatment for mental illness. Specifically a form of Bipolar 1 that results in prolonged psychotic episodes, not sleeping for days, and erratic, sometimes frightening behavior that mimics schizophrenia. On the same day the assault happened, Skyler also walked through the streets shirtless screaming at cops. I saw him try to smoke cigarettes through his nose and drink days old olive juice. He popped in and out of different characters, and answered questions with riddles. And the next day, when me and another close friend drove him to the hospital to get him treatment, I sat with him for hours in the Emergency Room as he sat strapped to a bed singing They Might Be Giants songs and talking like a cowboy.
Jesus christ. The way you described it, I thought it was going to be depression or something. That's less of a breakdown and more of a psychotic episode. That'll teach me to rate comments before reading everything, I guess. This doesn't mean that CN should keep him or anything, of course.
Dammit, there goes my chance to blame rape culture :suicide:
Seriously? Did you create an account for the sole purpose of trying to start shit?
I can't believe the guy who made this: could also go on to sexually assault someone and possibly lose his mind.
Clarence had to be the most aggravating to hear show/commercial ever. You can torture me with unlimited whip sounds from Johnny Test, just keep Clarence's voice away from me.
Adventure Time < Clarence
Adventure Time < Clarence
Fuck. That.
It's a little unsettling to see my name (Skyler) being used in a sexual assault concern.
It's a little unsettling to see my name (Skyler) being used in a sexual assault concern.
Sorry I was typing the content of the thread kind of fast. I didn't know anyone on here shared Skyler Page's first name.
Sorry I was typing the content of the thread kind of fast. I didn't know anyone on here shared Skyler Page's first name.
Lol, it's ok, no need to apologize, sharing someone's first name is a silly thing to compensate for in a news post.

Things aren't all black and white like that.
It's a little unsettling to see my name (Skyler) being used in a sexual assault concern.
comrade!!!
Just because someone has made something good doesn't mean they are a good person. Their victims might feel the same as the actions are the same, but there's a reason why will and motive play a role in criminal law for instance.
From Emily Partridge's twitter; "it's no secret that I deal with mental health issues. I'm incredibly sympathetic towards mental illness. being "sick", however, doesn't excuse you from toxic, manipulative, cruel behaviour, especially when these events are repetitive and specific. I had heard rumours about Skyler being "quirky" but nothing about his fucked up behaviour towards women until AFTER what happened to me. if I knew what I know now, I wouldn't have let him catch me alone or be near me. I don't want the same thing to happen to anybody else. my friends have been speaking out for me while I was too scared to come forward and I appreciate that a lot. the fact that twitter needs ME to speak is distressing, but I feel responsible to other women in the industry. don't trust this guy." I think she hit the nail on the head. Regardless of his mental state, his behavior doesn't deserve to be excused. If he is a nice person, and if it's really his mental problems, well, once he's sorted out he can spend the rest of his life regretting and making amends. He did something absolutely terrible, good guy or not, he's going to have to redeem himself.
I bet he tried to pull moves on her and maybe slapped her ass. I think whatever he did probably warranted him getting fired sure, but too often I see the "assault" word get thrown around and when you hear "assault" you think full on attempted rape attack. [editline]4th July 2014[/editline] Alright nevermind I read that one tumblr post, the guy is cuckoo bananas (sometimes).
I'm completely against sexual abuse, and nothing justifies it. But still, the idea that if you get on wrong side of women in your workplace, they can just team up and accuse you of sexual assault, it doesn't really matter if you did it or not at that point. you can kiss your career good bye. a pretty scary thought.
if you don't want to get on someone's wrong side maybe you shouldn't sexuallt assault them just a thought
if you don't want to get on someone's wrong side maybe you shouldn't sexuallt assault them just a thought
He kind of has a point though. I don't think the AT animator was lying at all, judging by what's being said around the issue, he probably DID legit sexually assault her, but I've seen people cry sexual assault because someone looked at them funny, it's become such a broad term. That being said, I still haven't found out any details of what actually transgressed. I've seen the tweets talking kind of about the incident, I saw the tumblr post that talked what happened after that specific incident, but I can seem to find all the details here. [editline]4th July 2014[/editline] So I'm dumb for actually wanting to know the full story before jumping to conclusions? Once again I'm not on Skylar Page's side by a long shot but no one has actually said what exactly happened. "Sexual assault" could mean he held her down and put his dick on her face or it could mean he walked by and squeezed her boob. It's vague as fuck. Alright I read more into it and apparently he gropes women. It's a scumbag thing but I don't like the way everyone has been dancing around the specifics, simply obscuring information like that is what causes these shitstorms in the first place, where idiots on the internet accuse women of lying about sexual assault.
if you don't want to get on someone's wrong side maybe you shouldn't sexuallt assault them just a thought
What if you're being a general annoying asshole?, that seems like an effective way to get rid of such a person and ruin his career. I'm not saying that all women lie about sexual assault, and I'm not saying that it happens a lot. I'm just saying that if they do, you're fucked. You might have those crazy wackos working with you, that think that if you looked at them the wrong way it's rape/sexual assault. [sp]Now I'm not causing a shitstorm, this is a valid question and I see no reason for why it would cause a shitstorm as it has no "SJW" or "MRA" elements to it.[/sp]
I feel bad for everyone involved. This has probably ruined this guy's life. And. I can't imagine Emily's problems are over for sensitive info on an HR investiigation being leaked.
What if you're being a general annoying asshole?, that seems like an effective way to get rid of such a person and ruin his career.
Are you really suggesting that she lied about being sexually assaulted to get rid of someone she thought was annoying? That is low.
Are you really suggesting that she lied about being sexually assaulted to get rid of someone she thought was annoying? That is low.
No, that's not what I'm suggesting, I don't know what happened, chances are that she was actually assaulted, I'm not disputing that. I'm just saying that if someone's mission was to get rid of someone and ruin their career, this would be a very effective way to go about it.

Even if it's not about getting them to lose their job, if you falsely accuse someone, it's probably because it benefits you in some way. And yet, only when it's sexual assault does anyone start going "well, y'know, it's still possible she made this all up, NOT SAYING SHE DID, BUT" I'm not buying it.
And yet, only when it's sexual assault does anyone start going "well, y'know, it's still possible she made this all up, NOT SAYING SHE DID, BUT"
This happens all the time and I find it really irritating
