Conservation experts also confirmed that 47% are vulnerable and highlighted the possible extinction of three species. The figures are based on a random sample of 1,500 of the world's reptile species. "It's essentially an election poll set up - using this sample to give an example of how reptiles are doing as a whole," explained Dr Monika Bohm, lead author of the study published in the journal Biological Conservation. The study was made in conjunction with 200 experts from the International Union for the Conservation of Nature's Species Survival Commission. Tuataras, lizard-like animals found only in New Zealand are also included.
nothing will be done
But reptiles are the coolest! Kind of literally bloodwise, but you know what I mean.
They all seem to be in congress or work in the stock exchange so I doubt they will be going anywhere soon.
nothing will be done
Who cares about spending time on preserving all the beautiful and diverse forms of life when we could be using that precious time to increase our maximum profits gained.
This is why I hope to get involved with conservation breeding, I already do some reptile rehabilitation. I am going to college to study reptiles and amphibians, and both are seriously threatened.
they used to rule this planet oh how the tables have turned
they used to rule this planet oh how the tables have turned
They still do :tinfoil:
But reptiles are the coolest! Kind of literally bloodwise, but you know what I mean.
Kind of literally sexual-fetish-wise, you definitely know what I mean.

The meteors came back to finish what they started
nothing will be done
Honestly, nothing can be done, unless it's the direct result of human activity, otherwise, waste of time to try and help something that nature is trying to kill off, because it would be inevitable.
Honestly, nothing can be done, unless it's the direct result of human activity, otherwise, waste of time to try and help something that nature is trying to kill off, because it would be inevitable.
But it is human activity, we are destroying their habitats and killing them/taking them from the wild. Even if you did not already know this it is in the article...
But, prompted by the destruction of its habitat, two recent searches for the animal were unsuccessful, causing conservationists to question its future existence. In Haiti, six of the nine species of Anolis lizard studied also had an elevated level of localised extinction due to extensive deforestation.

"With turtles, what's quite often the case is they are affected by harvesting and they're quite often used for food or the pet trade,"
So now what's half of facepunch going to jack off to
Fish.
Ew, that's just ichthy
Reptiles are bros, I wish people would start actually caring about them. I use to work in my aunt's pet shop and we had a Blue Rhino Iguana as a store pet. He acted basically like a dog and always had this "dude Im like so chilll right now" look. I miss that loveable bastard..
Is the picture in the OP a lizard sitting atop another lizard?
Is the picture in the OP a lizard sitting atop another lizard?
No.
everybody go out and pet a lizard if those filthy politicians don't save em i will
Is the picture in the OP a lizard sitting atop another lizard?
No idea what top is. Bottom is Marine Iguana.
Most crocodiles will survive. I can tell that now. They managed to survive everything that tried to kill them. The meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs, the ice ages and all that stuff.
Most crocodiles will survive. I can tell that now. They managed to survive everything that tried to kill them. The meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs, the ice ages and all that stuff.
Nothing can survive humans, not even the planet
Nothing can survive humans, not even the planet
I get you're trying to be deep and everything, but stop. The world is not some fragile system that we're punching in the dick, the world will go through far worse shit than anything we can throw at it, and guess what? Animals will survive it, they will adapt, they will thrive and then they'll get punched in the dick again by another meteor or supervolcano or ice age, and then they'll adapt again and the cycle will repeat. Most things won't adapt fast enough, but a lot of things will and the planet sure as fuck isn't going anywhere for a few billion years.
Yeah but you have to admit, we're contributing to the shit and that's a fact. Knowing that we are causing species to go extinct makes us feel bad about ourselves. It's like killing your friend.
Yeah but you have to admit, we're contributing to the shit and that's a fact. Knowing that we are causing species to go extinct makes us feel bad about ourselves. It's like killing your friend.
Yeah we're changing it, we're having a collosal effect on it but that doesn't change the fact that the overwhelming majority of species on Earth are gonna bite the bullet, if not today then some time in the future, maybe when the next super continent forms and the interior becomes a barren desert wastelane with super powerful hurricanes battering the coast, it might be the next ice age or super volcanic eruption that makes them kick the bucket. I love animals, animals are the shit, but we have far bigger problems than worrying about a few rare animals, like when climate change really hits it'll absolutely hammer our agriculture worldwide as most current agricultural zones will become arid wastes and we'll have nowhere to grow food for months, maybe even years.
nothing will be done
because of attitudes like this
Yeah we're changing it, we're having a collosal effect on it but that doesn't change the fact that the overwhelming majority of species on Earth are gonna bite the bullet, if not today then some time in the future, maybe when the next super continent forms and the interior becomes a barren desert wastelane with super powerful hurricanes battering the coast, it might be the next ice age or super volcanic eruption that makes them kick the bucket.
Most crocodiles will survive. I can tell that now. They managed to survive everything that tried to kill them. The meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs, the ice ages and all that stuff.
I for one welcome our crocodile overlords.
