Pretty damn sure graphics cards or any processing equipment requires a highly regulated environment with highly trained workers.
hint: smartphones are, in part, "processing equipment" That's only for chips and ICs which, whadaya know, are also in iPhones and any other phones [editline]25th September 2012[/editline]
What sucks is people who keep ignorantly buying it at such a overly high price, screwing over intelligent people who would legitimately want to buy a iPhone 5, knowing its overpriced, but unable to buy it for a reasonable price. The intelligent suffer from the ignorant masses.
wow this is the worst damned post I've read in a while
ITT backseat economists who have no fucking clue what they're talking about apple is a company that's been around for ages, I think they know the comfortable range in which they can maximize profit since they've been doing it since before you were born. quit blaming apple for making the most money they can, if you were in charge of a company you'd do the same goddamn thing
i mean if anything the manufacturing costs should go up. the workers are already painfully unpaid right down to some of the individual raw materials which are derived from indentured slave work in Africa.
this is why i feel like there should be a maximum markup for products
how on earth is this evidence that there should be a maximum markup? if you don't like it, don't buy one. you don't need an iphone to live

Something along the line of CiC to be specific.
i mean if anything the manufacturing costs should go up. the workers are already painfully unpaid right down to some of the individual raw materials which are derived from indentured slave work in Africa.
Apple could just lower their profit a little and pay the workers more. Bam, same price to the end consumer.
this is why i feel like there should be a maximum markup for products
Tell me how this would be remotely beneficial. New technologies (No not the phone) or new products will always be more expensive, in the case of new technologies competing companies will find ways to produce similarly performing items at lower costs (SIII). And besides maximum mark up starts to destroy the concept of free markets.
Apple could just lower their profit a little and pay the workers more. Bam, same price to the end consumer.
You don't "lower your profit" when nobody's bitching and your business model has worked for the last decade It's not like the CEO can get up and say they're gonna lower the profit, because then he'll get bitched at by stockholders and such.

This says a lot about the quality of the product. If they spent more money on the thing maybe people wouldn't keep cracking the glass on their iphones.
-snip-
What did you read the article did you understand it
They should take maybe 100$-150$ at the most. Iphones are becoming like macs, overpriced, overpowered, and unupgradeable.
Yeah that'll happen. This is apple, the company who started suing Samsung for no good reason.
this is why i feel like there should be a maximum markup for products
why shouldn't apple be allowed to charge what they want? their customers still buy it at this price, I don't see any reason Apple should lower it.
This says a lot about the quality of the product. If they spend more money on the thing maybe people wouldn't keep cracking the glass on their iphones.
fun fact: the GS3 holds up worse compared to the iPhone 4s and iPhone 5 the GS3 was rendered unusable while the 4s was at least usable the iPhone 5 even held up to drop tests better than the GS3 and the kicker? the iPhone 5 is the easiest iPhone when it comes to fixing displays yet, and the GS3 is literally fucking fused together, making it nigh impossible to DIY repair moral of the story is: every smartphone breaks when you drop it on solid concrete enough times
This is apple, the company who started suing Samsung for no good reason.
no good reason, that's a good one it's almost as if you have zero knowledge of how our terrible patent system works
-snip-, I just noticed how insanely high this markup actually was
no good reason, that's a good one it's almost as if you have zero knowledge of how our terrible patent system works
I don't understand exactly how it works, but when your patent is a picture of 2 fingers of inside circulars I don't see how you can sue anyone.
That video is rigged. Everyone knows Hong Kong has harder grounds :V [sp]you HK kids know what I'm saying.[/sp]
no good reason, that's a good one it's almost as if you have zero knowledge of how our terrible patent system works
This was literally on one of the patents they were sued over
This was literally on one of the patents they were sued over
ok and why not blame the patent office for letting such a thing get patented in the first place or is it just cool to dig apple now??
ok and why not blame the patent office for letting such a thing get patented in the first place or is it just cool to dig apple now??
I thought "digging" something meant you liked it. Damn kids.
ok and why not blame the patent office for letting such a thing get patented in the first place or is it just cool to dig apple now??
Just because something is legal doesn't mean it isn't fucking stupid.
This was literally on one of the patents they were sued over
patents like that exist all the time, you'd really have to be naive to think Samsung hasn't both patented and sued over such patents. Google certainly has, they even have a patent on "Google-like Search". plus a patent isn't judged based on how simple or complex it is. i mean Fender patented a metal plate with a spring under it.

The iPhone 5 is light as shit I felt like I was holding one of those dummy phone models. That's pretty cool
Just because something is legal doesn't mean it isn't fucking stupid.
and it's not Apple's fault the patents exist in the first place because if the patent office was fucking intelligent they would have never let them patent it in the first place
Apple would just sue Congress for trying to pass legislation like that. Or write them all hundred million dollar brib- I mean charitable contributions. :v:
and it's not Apple's fault the patents exist in the first place because if the patent office was fucking intelligent they would have never let them patent it in the first place
you're right it's not apple's fault that apple submitted the patents
