A group of people using the title Anonymous think this. Anonymous isn't a web organization or direct political force, but instead an aggregation of many skilled and unskilled individuals. Some want porn, others want political activity. When a common cause comes up (an allegation of government conspiracy) it attracts members out of the community to join the cause. It's not like Anonymous' General told them to attack.

Like they said, punishment is now completely disproportional to the amount of actual harm done. It's ridiculous.

Remember that it's not a bunch of cheesy stained shirt wearing kids that you direct your pro/con arguments towards. It's human nature at work here. More than that, it's very much a man made machine which goes by a name that, for better or worse, represents that part of us that wants to be free. People just forget that because they know which pit it crawled out from...
