Trophies/achievements are probably the reason why games nowadays don't have cheats anymore so I wonder how this would affect them.
Yeah we don't want people cheating to make their e-peen longer
How is this going to work given how locked down modern consoles are I wonder if this is going to lead to another PS3 jailbreak since they've obviously found something to exploit
magic and a sprinkle of hope either that or got approved by sony by some impossible odds
If they did get approved by anyone the cheats will be total shit
I've never heard of Game Genie Now Game Shark on the other hand... Was Genie not made for the 3D consoles?
I had Action Replay, so much fun on Vice City.
I had it for Gamecube. Moon jump in Wind Waker and Ocarina of time was hilarious as fuck because you could mess up how people interact with you in cutscenes :D
magic and a sprinkle of hope either that or got approved by sony by some impossible odds
I doubt it would be that hard to get permission to do an authorized cheating peripheral, or at least authorized in the "we don't care if you make it, but it needs to have some sort of disabling function for anything involving online play and an explicit warning we're not helping anyone whose games get fucked up via this" sense. They probably have some old sales data somewhere that shows release of a cheating peripheral correlated with system and game sales or something.
Gameshark and Action Replay were useful tools for the Playstation 2. Say you were in Monster Hunter and that game requires you to grind hours upon hours to create a certain sword. Took you like a minute to duplicate your items through these. Though now that I'm older I understand the point of playing a game
I am going to buy the shit out of this.
Why can't they make gamegenie for PC, could be useful in CS.
Nominating for Dumbest Post of the Year 2012.
Forgive me for not knowing how this is going to translate to current consoles (I had mine for Game Boy and the N64, N64 one never worked properly), but could this make something like this: Or any of the other numerous mods possible on a console?
I never heard of this, but I have heard of gameshark.
Trophies/achievements are probably the reason why games nowadays don't have cheats anymore so I wonder how this would affect them.
Or they just disable them if cheats are enabled.
In the old days they made freaking commercials about cheating devices
Nominating for Dumbest Post of the Year 2012.
But he said that he's being sarcastic :downs:
I used to be a console cheater and use these cheating software like gameshark and codebreaker ( I love codebreaker, they gave shitloads of cheats and most of them work well then gameshark provides). I stop console cheating since gameshark, codebreaker, and Action Replay stop providing cheats for new generation consoles like Xbox and the Xbox 360, which is sad cause I enjoy fucking around on the games that I play with cheats. Now with game genie (heard of them, but never use them) came back, it bring in some nice changes... altough i still cheat but only on the PC with the help of cheat engine, trainers, and and character editors.
I've never heard of Game Genie Now Game Shark on the other hand... Was Genie not made for the 3D consoles?
Genie was most famous for the NES and SNES if I remember correctly
so whatever happened to action replay
I had Action Replay for PS2 and when I got my PS3 I bought it for that as well, and just ended up with a crappy save database. I wasn't angry, I was disappointed.
Or they just disable them if cheats are enabled.
Fallout: New Vegas Did this; the Steam version disabled the trophies for that session if you did anything in the tilde console. Which I found fucking frustrating, because I kept getting stuck inb the world geometry in that game and needed to no-clip myself out of it.
Genie was most famous for the NES and SNES if I remember correctly
Game Genie for NES is quite fun if you insert variations of known working codes. like changing 1 letter in the code, would often create odd effects in certain games, although i've only tried it with super mario bros series.
This is going to be really, really fun.
My brother still has his NES' Game Genie. Sad part is it that it's stuck in there and refuses to come out. Oh well!

And if you get a code converter to show you what codes change which variables you can make some really great things happen.
