When you make a game that is so in depth in a gimmick it becomes painfully uninteresting unless you REALLY like that specific gimmick. Besides the fact the original red orchestra was a very poorly made game. Believe it or not, you can make a game that ISN'T a shitty gimmick and isn't generic. It's called a happy medium and many games do that.

It was pretty inevitable, really! The internet makes it possible for anybody with a microphone and screen capture software to make video game shows that are more entertaining than the bilge on G4. Who wants to watch prescheduled weekly game reviews when they can just go to youtube and see the same thing done better any time they want? G4--death by modern tech.

Being MORE realistic isn't always more fun.[/QUOTE] I really dislike the use of the term "gimmick" as the definition of a gimmick is something that's supposed to make the game unique, but not only fails at it but seems like it was coded in during a lazy weekend and doesn't have much gameplay associated with it Imagine if you had HL2, but the physics were floaty, the puzzles were few and far between, the Gravity Gun's object fling couldn't kill anything, there were fewer objects to pick up, and the entire citadel section was nonexistant. Then, the gravity gun would be a gimmick. As it is, just like with realism in red orchestra, it's a core element of the game that the entire game is built around. That isn't a gimmick. You might not find it fun, and it might be only for masochists and gun nuts, but it's not a gimmick, it isn't supposed to be called that, and a review on a game isn't supposed to insult it (and it's audience) for being different.
