Some of the nazi's were actually good, decent people. Ok, not decent, but they tried to be good, and for those that tried, thats enough for me, some people just are wrapped up in bad shit and can't do anything about it.
Obviously what they did was [B]horrible[/b] and [B]wrong[/B], but, some of them TRIED to prevent Jew deaths, but, they had no choice, they either die or work with nazi's, so the best they did was try as much as they could.

I get how you feel, I really do. Members of my family died in the holocaust (french jews) and millions of people were subjected to things no human being should ever endure. Most people also forget that:
1) The Wehrmacht is german for "Armed forces"
2) That conscription was the rule in all branches
3) That the Heer (army) didn't had a good relationship with the SS (Fanatics, the party's personal military unit)
4) That the Luftwaffe was Hitler's favorite, while the Kriegsmarine had the worst relationship with the party

more and more evidence is coming up that even hitler was not fully aware of the extent of his final solution. that doesn't make hitler less of an awful person but naming him responsible for the entirety o the holocaust grossly disregards the involvement of a large number of equally terrible people

In regards to the post two up from mine about Hitler's involvement with the Holocaust...Wasn't Himmler the ultimate offender in regards to the Holocaust?
At the end of World War 2, the British forces teared their ass a new one and forced the German soldiers who were guarding the concentration camps to pick up the bodies of the dead (it was really disturbing how bony they were) and throw them into the back of the truck whereas a German soldier would drive the truck and plow them into a graveyard of bodies and later, pile Earth ground ontop of them. The British executed all German personnel from the concentration camp and passed out free food to those malnourished prisoners who were still alive, some of them being prisoners-of-war (Soviet, Canadians, etc) and some being innocent civilians.
Some of them were doing their job and couldn't do anything about it - I remember a photograph of a young German who was shot in the leg but a American was patching it up with a bandage. There was a story about a paratrooper who was the last of his squad, in which, they died in a plane explosion. He jumped from the plane and landed into dangerous boundaries below in the night. A german soldier spotted him and directed him to a nearby Allied outpost before heading somewhere else. Remember; one bad apple spoils them all. Not all german soldiers were bad.
Although, I do admit agreeing that the remaining german soldiers from World War 2 should be put on a trial before their death but as someone said, a FAIR trial.

It's a little difficult to deny what someone is telling you to do when they have a metaphorical gun pointed at the back of your head. Or when you've been effectively brainwashed into believing the crap that has been shoveled down your throat is actually true.
The Nuremberg defense actually has a lot of weight. It's really no different than what happens in the US military with the selective service act. You're pretty much forced into the armed forces regardless of choice if the government deems you as fit and capable. Nazi-Germany had a very similar thing, only it was pretty much forced service, not selective. Anybody who defied the Third Reich was either conscripted into the Wehrmacht, or killed.
If someone seriously tells me that something like that wouldn't scare them into doing whatever was possible to survive, then I'm calling bullshit.
