I remember this, however I have to say my heart truly lies with 9.0.4.
remember the mingebags and how they were kleiner models with physguns with a rather strange facepose?
oh man, loved those comics where mingebags were the brunt of jokes

rp_oviscity and rp_hometown1998 so many memories
Grammar mistake in the first paragraph.
but six years on there’s so much more to GMod than just fucking about
I seem to remember when War of the Servers came out there was this huge group of people flipping a bitch because they thought it actually happened. My memory could be hazy though.
Anyway, I should really get into GMod again, but the problem is I haven't had any good ideas for things to build in quite a while.

Spacebuild 2 was the shit. With the right setup, you could infinitely recycle everything you needed and just hang out in whatever badass ship you built pretty much forever.

Nowadays the only SB2 servers you can find consist of 2 people scripting e2 and another guy noclipping into space, dying and going "WTF"
Been playing gmod since about v6, I think.
I can still only make the same shit.
Man, I haven't fired up Garry's Mod in a long time. Haven't tried the beta yet either.
Might as well give it a go, see if I still have some bit of creativity in me.
man, I think I'll go watch War of the Servers, I wanna see it again
I enjoyed War of the Servers so much that I downloaded it and burned it to DVD
it's still one of the best examples of a good machinima imo
it's still one of the best examples of a good machinima imo
War of the Servers isn't as good as everyone says it is. The voice acting wasn't too great, a lot of the scenes are just weird and some jokes drag on to the point where it's a bit awkward to watch.
When I ask people why they like it so much, they just say something vague like "It's amazing!!!".
Watch it again and you'll see what I'm talking about.
I remember when I first saw War of the Servers. That shit was amazing.

I definitely know what you mean, a large amount of the movie isn't incredible but I'd definitely say a few scenes are rather good, like the fight between the green mafia and the Admins is a great piece of machinima

Yeah, there are scenes that are extremely awesome. But it's a tad bit annoying to see most people saying the whole thing was super-amazing-godwin-perfection when they have probably only seen 20 minutes of it.
I like the admin cannon contraption and the airboat planes and at the time when I tried to copy it but I was a new to gmod then so I didn't know how to make it fly :v:

I mainly use Gmod for interior designing and npc fights :v:
I mainly use Gmod for interior designing and npc fights :v:
My favorite things to do are design wacky rooms inside rooms (mainly RP maps), build big forts, and fight NPCs (sometimes just build a big fort to fight NPCs from). Sometimes I'll even just explore the scenic maps people make like rp_mountainvillage and rp_suo. I used to just spawn a ton of NPCs outside of buildings, then hide inside somewhere in a corner and I feel safe.
With wiremod I only got to the point of building decent stunt planes out of PHX props, cars, and some random machines. I'd see so many advanced wiremod creations, and then E2 things but I didn't want to bother spending the time to learn all of that. I prefer simple building with HL2 props so your creations look like they came out of Junkyard Wars. I do like the different gamemodes a lot though, they let me enjoy GMod continuously because after all, sandbox is just one of the many gamemodes GMod is designed for so I can't just say "Oh I'm not good at sandbox, there's nothing left in GMod for me". I still have to try TTT, but that 2D cube climbing gamemode was pretty fun. I'm also looking forward to GMod Tower when it comes to GMod 13.
There wasn't much competition around that time, which is why the movie was so good. People would accept the poor acting and story as amateurish when there's nothing to compare it to.
Especially when it comes to machinima and you kind of accept it's faults when most of machinima is utter shit
PHW was full of assholes, which led to its downfall.
I still make Gmod comics from time to time whenever I don't feel like playing TF2 for a couple hours.
here's my latest comic

PHW was pretty much the only good source of comics though. Kenny the Cop and Afro Zombie were great.
I remember playing Gmod everyday and Mingebags
Mother

Mingebags.
PHW was pretty much the only good source of comics though. Kenny the Cop and Afro Zombie were great.
I miss Afro Zombie and Jeff. My two favorites by far.
I haven't played GMOD in a while, but I got a beta key because I guessed that I might as well try again.
I feel bad because I have fallen off in my Gmod playing in the last couple of years. I think the major issue is that I have so much shit cluttering it that it runs terribly for me. I mean, my materials folder is enormous and much of the content dates back to 2005. I have old scripts that don't work at all, or only work enough to break others. 60% of the contents of my Addons folder I never use and don't even understand what it is doing in there and have no memory of adding.
I just know that there is also a number of things I'd actually miss if I lost and probably couldn't get back, so I don't want to do a clean install.
It's kind of sad that I have to agree with this.
I have like 3 different versions of PHX, multiple folders of "I don't know what the fuck this shit is," Folders more than 1 Gb in size, stuff that doesn't even work anymore. If I ever got back into GMod seriously It would take me a good couple of days or so to make it actually playable in terms of updating and sorting stuff.

I remember still the first server I ever went on, ever.
They killed me over and over again with a hydraulic-powered boxcar of death. :v:

It hasn't aged well, but it was amazing for it's time.
