I remember phwonline and the good comics they churned out
was kinda bummed to see the site die late 2011-ish
I kept posting in the forums until the bitter end though; I remember I had ~666 posts
I still use this avatar that Kimaero (was that his name?) drew for me in his avatar request thread. I think Clover might be the only one still using one also. Good times.

I also remember this video as leading me to PHW somehow, and then shortly after I joined Facepunch
[editline]1st September 2012[/editline]
it was quite ahead of its time
I plan to sift through that wayback link posted, I only have the first half of my comics archived for some reason, and I can't seem to find anyone with the website backup.
And yeah Chrille, still rocking Kimeroajskdj...aks's avatar.
I remember when I first saw War of the Servers. That shit was amazing.
steinmann's films are the shit
steinmann's films are the shit
Does he still do machinima?
I miss his stuff.
Honestly, this thread is giving me a nostalgia overload. I miss those days.
If it wasn't for Garry's Mod, my life would be astronomically different.
Butterfly effect and all that shit. :v:
So many memories of my terrible contraptions and hours making machinima and comics.
Oh how I miss it.
Man, I remember when I first saw GMOD; I believe it was the "Idiots of GMOD" or "GMOD Idiot Box" or something similar that lured me in. I've always loved sandbox enviroments (the reason I decided to buy Portal was probably just to play with Portal Playground, and hell, the first thing I loaded up in GMOD was the Glados battle), and this one seemed to be just for me.
Of course, once I bought it at the begining of '09, my computer fucked up and I wasn't able to play anything on Steam until I finally got the idea to reinstall it in November. Besides that, though, I have good memories.

I'd probably still be fucking 'round in a Portal Playground or worse had it not been for GMOD to ignite my interest into TF2 and the half life series (All of which I got in at Best Buy in the Orange Box for $30).
It's odd to think that 1 click is enough to define a large part of my life. I remember back ages ago when I was playing css I started looking for some zombiemods and on the mod section for css on a website had garrysmod 9. I was intrigued so I downloaded and tried it out. 7 Years later and I'm still playing gmod. Wow.
is garry's dating site still running
Every time I think of Garry's Mod I get distracted by the fact that I've been playing it for near a damn decade. I miss my childhood. Great article though.

What exactly happened to PHW though? I remember the front page exploding, after that the forums were pretty much dead for a few months and eventually the site went down. I met Waxx on a random gmod server sometime last year and asked him about it but he said he didn't want to talk about it.
I'm sort of sad thinking that I didn't start playing Gmod until after the "golden era".
I've got no idea how wiremod works and no idea how half the stock toolgun tools work either.
Most of the time I either dick around on terrible darkRP servers, play on the odd sandbox server, or just play alone.
When I do play alone I usually end up spawning a dozen HECU grunts from the Half Life Renaissance mod and pitting them against hordes of zombies or alien grunts and stuff.
my name isn't mentioned once ;_;

I miss the comics where Dav0r jizzes on Slick and the Jeff watches it
lol
my name isn't mentioned once ;_;
Every time I search through props in-game I see a folder titled Dav0r. Unmentioned, but not forgotten.
Ooooh usaokay, the number of times you managed to get yourself in trouble over there.
Fuck me do I ever miss making comics, though.
So why not make one more?
Garry's Mod needs a Renaissance. Maybe with all the changes being made in 13, we'll get to see one.

I honestly would love to see some of the classic Comic artists and model makers and scripters return.
Garry's Mod is amazing because of all of the mods and addons and stuff.
Sure, building is fun but it gets boring after a while.
I think it's amazing that something like Garry's Mod can exist, it's basically just an engine given out to people who use it to create amazing stuff.
And it was made by some guy playing around with an SDK in his bedroom.
I wouldn't be surprised if Garry's Mod was still relevant next decade.
I mean, I've only had it for 2 years and I have 806 hours gameplay time on it.

Those were the days.
I felt the artists' depiction of garry meeting that UFO wasn't realistic enough so I attempted to improve it.
