because of the facial animation?
As much as I found it awesome the detail we got in faces with that game, I still feel like it wasn't as good as it should have been
The faces were recorded at 30 FPS so the game can't run any higher than that. Personally I think the concept is cool, but I think it's the wrong way to go both because the game fell into the uncanny valley a lot* and I think Valve did faces properly 10 years ago, you should make proper facial bones and animation that way you aren't forced to hand animate everything but also aren't constrained to recording an actor's face.

That's bs. The actual reason why LA Noire is locked to 30fps is that driving physics is coded for 30fps and increasing the framerate makes it go all over the place.

Wow, that's way worse. The facial recording is at least believable. The driving in LA Noire is already pretty shit.
I never actually noticed LA Noire was locked to 30.
Maybe the performance really suffered when they tried it due to console peasantry?
Because it makes no fucking sense to send the army for someone going on a murder spree. I'm fine with three helicopters and an army of SWAT.
The army being sent if being in specific vehicles however, like the Tank, jet, prop cargo plane, etc would be cool. Having tanks being sent to take out your tank, or being given a chance to be escorted to the airport or be shot down would be fucking great. The escort could only work for helicopters though if they brought back the hunter.
Plus, how you quoted someone asking for a better police AI mod, people have already done this with the console versions.

No more ESPD response teams, nor do dogs call the police.(Yes, Rockstar made it so dogs can call the police. WHY)
Watch as someone mods a trainer into it like GTA IV so you can change your model and someone records a bunch of videos playing as the naked old men

Does that need a jailbroken console to use?

I believe so, yes.
Damn :(

Well actually the faces could run at 30 fps with double frames so the rest of the game could be 60, it would look weird, but it would be better than 30 fps for the whole game.
I never actually noticed LA Noire was locked to 30.
I feel like fps locking has become a much bigger issue in the past year or two, people didn't talk about it as much when LA Noire came out
As long as it runs at a resolution and framerate actually from this century I have hopes.
And those of us in the real world will be happy if it's playable and fun. If that happens at 30 then we'll enjoy it at 30, if that's 60 we'll enjoy it at 60.
I honestly couldn't care less about the raw numbers. What I look for is whether or not it's smooth enough for me to enjoy playing. That varies game to game, Garry's Mod I can still have assloads of fun in while only getting 9-12FPS, for example. Fallout: New Vegas is notorious for its shit engine, I have just as much fun in that game when it's down at 20-25 as I do when it's running at 200+. But if it drops below 20 or so the gunplay goes to shit and the game crashes outright, ruining the fun. And then there's TF2, which if it isn't running at a minimum of 30 isn't fun, yet HL2, which uses the same engine, is fun right up until it gets to the 12-15FPS region.
What matters is not the raw numbers, what matters is how fun it is to play. Quit being a '60fps' elitist and just enjoy the game however it comes. You'll last a whole lot longer in this hobby and be a whole lot less angry at everything.
Your concerns about resolution, by the way, are totally unfounded. GTA has always been a series that gives a wild smattering of possible resolutions. I'm not sure if I'll be able to play it at 2048x1536, some games read my monitor which only reports a max res of 1600x1200 and refuse to run at the 2048x1536 that other games and Windows are running, but that's a problem unique to my system and my monitor not the game as a whole.

Thank you. This is exactly what I tried to tell fab when he thought that it's impossible to play a game at lower than 20fps. When I told him I still had fun with IV and finished the story at <10fps on my old computer, he started freaking out about "THE TICKRATE!!" and made a post here making fun of me.
Guys, imagine if someone made a batmobile tumbler car mod.
It'll be so fucking awesome.

If they do send Army, it should just be the occasional Land-Rover with a squad of Soldiers inside.

Agreed the most on this though. I don't think it's fun when you have a Tank because literally nothing can stop you except yourself. In past GTA's the only way to get stopped was to blow up ~60+ cars by ramming before all the explosion damage started to take it's toll.
What I really want is if you get a Tank, then special precautions are taken, like sending in soldiers with RPG's, or an Attack Helicopter, or another Tank. This is supposed to be a next-gen game yet the tactics for taking down a Tank are the same as fucking GTA3: copikaze until it blows up.

The Rhino is too weak in GTA5
How can it be too weak, the only thing that can hurt it is your own mistakes?
[editline]15th June 2014[/editline]
I watched a stream, a guy just sat there in a tank for an hour blowing up cops, and he was completely untouchable because the cops don't use explosives even at 5 stars against a tank.

I think it's not really about it being weak, it's about the fact that cars explode when you drive over them, they shouldn't really.
Why is everyone comparing a trailer to actual in-game screenshots? The trailers for the 360 / 3 looked so damn gorgeous and the final product was a jaggied, blurried piece of shit (mind you I still enjoyed the game).
Rockstar always uses raw, actual in-engine footage for their trailers
You can actually see the jaggies pretty clearly in the original GTA V announcement trailer if you watch in 720p. It's hidden a bit by the compression but there doesn't seem to be any trickery going on

Late but a few of the "AI"'s bad driving can be chalked up to you speeding or you driving recklessly. A lot of the turns he was showing off could have been avoided if he was going slower, or driving right.
Not saying I drive safely on GTA, but I'd say most of the AI is spot on to real life and such. If you were about to turn, do you really expect a car going 100 MPH down the lane next to you?
I thought it took to long to loose the cops. I would leave the circle and it would feel like five minutes before I lost my stars. It really prevented me from doing things, because I didn't feel like waiting forever to loose my stars.
Know the little tricks of the game. If you were spotted in a car and leave the search area, switch cars.
Hide in bushes using the stealth mode, and turn off your radio when parked in back alleys
all these things have bearings on how quickly you lose the cops

It's pretty bad when it causes the ai to turn into his lane and have them cause a completely avoidable collision though.
It's pretty bad when it causes the ai to turn into his lane and have them cause a completely avoidable collision though.
Lets see for a second.
You're going down a road at 90 MPH
You get closer to a car that might turn left
You two choices
1) Go right around them, miss
2) Go left, and pray your breaks work like the gods so you don't slam into someone mid turn.
Yes, I agree it's avoidable, if the user their self tries to. To the person turning, it really isn't as it happens in a flash of a second.
Now if you chose 1, and the car that was turning left quickly decides to turn right, and then you proceed to plow into them, then you can say the AI is faulty.
I think car handling between the two would be the best. In GTAIV it felt more realistic but slow, but when I played GTAV at a friend's house all I could think is "Holy shit this bus has a Jet Engine".
I know people complained about the slowness in GTAIV but I think they way overdid it with GTAV's changes. City Buses handling like sports cars is really weird to me.
"realistic" is hardly a term id use regarding GTAIV driving. Slow, yeah, but cars do not move the way they do in 4. I used to say the same thing until I really started driving a lot and holy shit does GTAIV feel stupid.

No but I check my mirrors, because actually where I live, in the motorways a lot of people do 100MPH (myself included or not). Most people don't just look at the mirrors and are like "oh that guy's not that close, I'll switch lanes now!" and pay no attention to the speed the other car is going. (some actually do that though).
Anyway, the driver AI in GTA V has no awareness of its surroundings, and there's really no excuse for those INSTANT lane changes and ridiculous changes in speed just as you're coming up to them. Nobody changes lanes like that. I'm hoping these things are console limitations.

GTA IV's driving was made artificially slower by nerfed top speeds and super soft suspensions and low grip on purpose to slow things down because, in reality, Liberty City isn't that big, so to make it seem bigger you have to take longer to move around it. Every car's top speed in the game is actually much slower than you think it is when driving, use a trainer if you wish to verify this. Infernus' top speed is something like 160 km/h. And the roads are actually really bumpy too, in contrast with GTA V where the roads are racetrack-tier smooth in most places, and every car seems to be on racing slicks.

The drivers should atleast have a chance to spot you coming up. Drivers ideally should check their mirrors and then turn their head to see before changing lanes.

Maybe but it was more realistic than it's predecessors, successor, and Saints Row, which all have a very arcadey feeling to vehicle handling. The worst part of the driving was the lack of traction, like every vehicle needed it's tires changed last year. On the other hand, in GTAV I can hop in a bus and go 0-60 in a few seconds.
