this is rough
from what I understand, traffic was all but locked down, even the metra wasn't allowed to enter/exit town for a while. There's (currently?) a 2 nautical mile no-fly zone around the city (why nautical though)
it's just how aviation works. i checked it up at the TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction) is only from the surface to 3000'
Because the news only shows this. Glorifies it, even.
Hey, go shoot a bunch of cops, we'll make you famous.
Go shoot up a school, get a 60 Minutes special, just about you.
It's the American way!
I used to lifeguard at the nearby park district. Small world eh'
You said eh are you Canadian?
Nope, it's a constant war zone. I can't even leave the house to go to the local bartering center without my handgun because of highwaymen attacking my stagecoach.
Tis truly, a wild land.
You can't however leave your house without knowing that "almost every person" in public could have a gun on them. Kind of an unsettling idea.

Actually not unsettling at all. The vast majority of those who carry create 0 problems. Almost every person in public probably owns a rifle/shotgun of some model, but a significant less carry

It's actually extremely comforting in Florida to know that anyone carrying a gun legally has had to receive training and background checks.
Nice to know if anything happens theirs a good chance that someone right next to me has a gun instead of waiting for police to arrive.

the "training and background checks" is the comforting part there, too many people react to the idea of control via background checks negatively

I know significantly more people that have never owned a gun than I know people who own a rifle or shotgun and I've lived in Texas my entire life. Saying "almost every person in public" owns a gun is just wrong - most studies put it at around 1 in 3 or lower, and it's decreasing.

1 in 3 is pretty huge.
