"Why'd you kill that dog?"
"He attacked me and ripped my shirt!"
Media sees: "I killed him because he ripped my shirt!"

no, he told police that the dog ripped his shirt and in anger he began beating the dog with rocks and eventually stabbed it, THIS is the point where the dog attacked him. he admitted, numerous times, that he beat the dog because it ripped his shirt. he's also openly admitting to being a gang lord.
80,000 dollar bail seems a little excessive for killing a dog, even if it was over a dumb reason.
80,000 dollar bail, an amount you are supposed to be able to afford so you can have freedom of action to construct your own defense and arrive at your trial not in handcuffs (Cuffs generally increase the chance the jury will find you guilty), is excessive for a guy who freaks out over a three dollar shirt.

I'm not to sure what you're tying to prove with this post.
It's a fucking insane amount of money to charge for bail on something like this, they should have just denied him bail or something. $80,000 is a hell of a lot of money, and most people aren't going to have that on hand, or be able to take out a loan for that much.
Pitbulls are killingmachines, not pets.
You couldn't be more wrong.
The dog attacked him, he killed it. Nothing wrong.
Next time it couldbe his hand or a toddler. Pitbulls are killingmachines, not pets.
You're also a killingmachine, we can't have you in our society, we'll have to put you down.
wow 3.78 for a t-shirt, that's alot of money
anyone seen the loch ness monster in lake michigan?
im missing bout three fiddy.

The point is that the bail system is being abused here. Like always.
Asshole though the guy may be, the point of a justice system is to always strive to be the bigger person. To take the high road.
Animal cruelty is not a case where you are supposed to deny bail. Unless the person is an immediate threat to human life or a serious flight risk, you do not deny bail.
The article even mentions this other case:
In an unrelated case, Judge Kuriakos Ciesil ordered a second South Austin man, 19-year-old Adontis Hoskins, 19, of the 4900 block of West Gladys, held in lieu of $20,000 bail Sunday. He’s facing a misdemeanor count of cruelty to animals.
20k, for a misdemeanor.
http://cpsj.uis.edu/Communicators%5CILLawManual4.pdf
In the state of Illinois, the worst a class A misdemeanor of cruelty to animals can carry is a one year prison sentence and a 2,500 USD fine. Bail is abused heavily and it is fucked up.
80,000 dollar bail seems a little excessive for killing a dog, even if it was over a dumb reason.
Killing an animal for ripping up a t-shirt is a sign of a future psychopath.
as a whole, fp really pats itself on the back for being logical, but then when a thread about an animal comes up, MUH FEELS POOR DOGGY KILL THIS MAN
as a whole, fp is a backwards clusterfuck of nonsensical garbage that should never be taken seriously
I love animals as much as the next guy, but $80k bail is unreasonable, and if he does get jail time, I don't see it being for anything more than 6 months. There's a whole lot of bigger stuff going on right now than people who kill dogs for destroying cheap shirts, that I feel would need more attention paid to. Give this guy a brief stay, damages to the owner, and mandatory therapy.
Also if the dog were just wandering around, the whole thing could've been avoided if its owner didn't let it do just that.
If anything, investigate and throw the book at the guy for being a "vice lord," should his claims prove true.
In my honest opinion I see no difference killing a human or a dog.
Yes I am a weird person
Please leave.
honestly fuck pit bulls
they're goddamn automated killing machines
they literally get up and on their on volition, begin eating babies.

truer words have never been said through a forum of this caliber
Wait he was wearing the t-shirt? If so, this was fucking self defense. The dog was attacking HIM, not the t-shirt he was wearing.
I blame media sensationalism (or whatever it's called). Media cherry picks the words the subject says.
OH GOOD, I have to go right into the neighborhood in happened in to go to one of my jobsites in 20 minutes. Fantastic.
I dunno about other people but if some random unknown dog jumped up at me and tore my shirt I would not think twice about killing it.
Of course there is a difference between killing a dog in self defence and purposely going after it as it sounds like this guy did.
"Stupid dog! You made me look bad!"
80,000 dollar bail seems a little excessive for killing a dog, even if it was over a dumb reason.
The reason might have something to do with this:
Wilkerson, a self-admitted Cicero Insane Vice Lord

Pitbulls are killingmachines
Pretty sure your average joe is way more dangerous than a dog.
Killing someone's pet is fucking despicable and I wouldn't mind seeing this guy rot in prison. Doubt he'd last long anyways. Killing a dog in self-defense? It had to happen. Killing a dog over a fucking (cheap) shirt is ridiculous.
Missed this line
"Prosecutors said Wilkerson beat the animal with sticks and rocks and stabbed it, then stuffed it in a trash bin."
Yeah, this cunt can rot for all I care.

Yeah I guess I'm dumb because I think some sack of shit should rot in prison for brutally killing someone's pet animal. He killed it with rocks and sticks and threw it in a dumpster for fucks sake.
You know what's the worst part about these news?
The fact that they mention the shirt at all.
If the dog attacked "the shirt", I'm betting he didn't want to go for the shirt, and instead wanted to go for the guy.
This wasn't for a shirt. In fact, the guy was probably lucky it was JUST the shirt. What if it was a child? I would bet he/she was either dead, heavily injured or traumatised right now.
People give too much "bawww" when something happens to an animal and straight away assume it was an evil person that harassed the dog and made it agressive when he was minding his own business, and these headlines make it even worse to assume that.
He killed it with rocks and sticks. If it was me and I'd actually have a fighting chance, I'd kick and punch it till it was sitting on the ground motionless and then call the police.
ok guys
here is something we can all agree on
you should never kill something just because it fucks up your shirt

man the other i was playing with my cat and then it grabbed onto my arm with it's claws, then in self-defense i went to find sticks and rocks to throw/beat it's head in then when i was done i hid it in a trash bag
Yeah I will because some piece of shit that killed an animal with a rock and some fucking sticks. I would gladly allocate .000000000000000000001% of my taxes to keeping this degenerate in prison.
Also who cares if it's his dog?

I don't think you understand the danger a dog can be if its aggressive...

The problem with this article in one single post.
honestly fuck pit bulls

I know plenty of nice pit bulls. The violent ones are product of awful owners and violence as a trait in dogs is not exclusive to pit bulls. Way to give into media hype.
I volunteered at a local animal shelter after my cat died since I wanted a quick pick-me-up. We rarely ran into animals that weren't sweet and all we had to do is smooth them over real quick with some food or something.

That's not what he's saying at all. Playing with a cat and it scratching you is a totally different scenario than walking by a fence and a dog attacking you. I don't think he was justified either, but at least use a decent analogy.

You're FREAKING OUT over a dog you never / will never know and making a big deal out of it being killed. Even if you knew it, you have no idea what actually happened nor what happened in court and you're just acting blindly out of manchild rage.
Grow up.
He killed something. People charged with murder sometimes don't get bail, yet he did, simply because he killed a dog.
idk maybe because dogs is not people
In my honest opinion I see no difference killing a human or a dog.

Thats pretty naive to equate a human to an animal, not that animals are nothing, but come on dude.
I think it's goddam funny you get people like the three above in these threads but when a human gets killed, these people will probably make puns about it. The dog was also apparently reaching for his neck as he fought him off and he was training it for ring fighting.
man the other i was playing with my DOG and then it bit my arm, then in self-defense i went to find sticks and rocks to throw/beat it's head in then when i was done i hid it in a trash bag
Except you're still not anywhere near the situation. He wasn't playing with it (it bit him "unprovoked", although dogs are known for being good judges of character, so...), and it wasn't his dog.

The article specifically pointed out that the dog went for dude's throat.... After he started beating the dog for ripping his shirt.
No mention of how aggressive the dog was during the shirt tearing process.

I wish people realized the media is bullshit and are just using the shirt thing for views
so they jump to conclusions and say he should rot in jail

If I was a reporter and a quote like that came across my desk, it would 100% be the headline.
The bad part is the fact that the guy had to hop a fence to even get to the dog gets lost.
