People already can collide with it if their too slow also it has 8 wheels 4 in the front 4 in the back.
You mean on the right and left?
You mean on the right and left?
Wait what? It does have a back right? Here's what I thought it looked minus the side which is just an idea to have a space in the middle.

Oh, well if you wanted to think of it like that, I guess. It "strattles" the road though, letting smaller cars drive under it.
Judging from the video, it looks like it only turns at intersections and stops traffic when it does so.
It also looks like it's got sensors and that ticker on each end to direct larger traffic around it.

Ninja'd :ninja:
Half Bus, half tunnel.
Sounds interesting.
Wouldn't this impede a bit on the outer lane?
Wouldn't this impede a bit on the outer lane?
They must be using some extremely strong material; I would image that the width of each support is only that of the lane dividers.
Maybe instead of passenger cabins they could also have moving platforms to put on cargo containers and what have you.
How do they switch lanes? I don't see driving through the bus as an option.
How do they switch lanes? I don't see driving through the bus as an option.
I think you'd either have to slow down and then jog around it, or accelerate. But you make a good point; you're screwed if your in the far right lane and you want to make a left turn at the intersection coming up.

At an intersection all the normal cars will be stopped by the red lights and the bus will just continue as normal. Then the lights turn green and cars can drive however they want at the intersection without the big bus blocking.
If you watch the video it seems that they will make the traffic lights feel the bus when it approaches.

Ya, but if you're coming up to a traffic light, and you happen to be under the bus at the time, you won't have much of a chance to move over lanes, to get into the left turn one. (I'm not sure if that's how roads work in China.)
So I guess it will just take a little thinking ahead from the drivers.
I just hope it's well made and that the Chinese government actually considers every aspect of safety. (Rather than skimping out as they have done in the past)
Think of it as more of a road train than a bus, it follows track, meaning, it will follow a pre set course, which will obviously incorporate various elements to allow it to navigate the road networks safely.

Ill be uploading a youtube version of it later, hopefully get faster load times.
Anyone else think that would be scary as shit to drive under? I'm nervous enough driving NEXT TO buses and trucks, I don't want to be driving inside of one.

I can imagine most people staring at the underside of the thing, and then either running into it, or driving off the road when it turns.
I see their thinking, and it seems pretty efficient. I don't know how well it will work in practice though.
By the way, wasn't there that train idea that I think China had? The one where little cabins would be carried on top of the main train then dropped off?
SO MANY QUESTIONS
I'm just gonna forget I saw this thread.
Chinese Roadkill. But they will cover it up- ironic their oil spilled happened at the same time as the USA's.

...what? That wasn't even remotely coherent
What if someone has to swerve to avoid an obstacle on the road while driving under the train?
It seems rather useless and too precarious to me. It'll be cheaper and less dangerous to build public transpiration only lanes.
Seems like they're trying to reinvent the train.

I'm pretty sure he meant PRC China, not Ancient China.
I was half expecting this to be a next generation Chinese death bus
Obviously you guys are blind. It has wheels.
