I was half expecting this to be a next generation Chinese death bus
But I thought it was
And if it has to turn, wouldn't everybody underneath would be forced to turn with it?
That sounds inconvenient.
There might be traffic lights underneath it. When it turns it makes all the cars stop.
I hope these get used in the States o.o
Obviously you guys are blind. It has wheels.
So do trains.
This thing runs on tracks.
Good idea. Not many problems with it. Just new driving etiquette.
And needs some sort of guards for pedestrians.
Cars are going to get hit by this thing like crazy.

yeah if you drive on the curb :downs:
yeah if you drive on the curb :downs:
It takes up two lanes, not all roads are four lanes. If you look at the picture, it's on a six lane road. People switching lanes and turning will easily run into it. :downs:

It takes up less room and is less of a collision hazard than streetcars are, yet the vast majority of people manage to avoid hitting those.
you'd only run into it if you don't see if but if it was like that regularly you'd might as well have been hit by a truck
Huffington Post has some cooler photos of it, I like this one:

It will definitely reduce congestion on highways.

It takes up a huge amount of room, because cars can't abide to the normal driving rules while under it, lets not forget about the traffic jams it will cause. No cars can turn while under it, which will cause major traffic jams. It splits lanes in half, so if someone is just a bit over the line, bam. Someone changes to a right lane by mirrors while it's on their left, bam. It would cause chaos on the roads.

It looks like someone just took a screenshot of the video.

Notice how that's on a four lane highway, on a bridge, and no emergency lane. It works perfect there, for other roads? No.

It stops behind the stop line at traffic lights, so if it's not turning, you can turn like normal. I believe it has sensors on it too, so it will detect if someone's over a bit.

If it's not turning, you must wait for it to go. People will have to wait at green lights to turn, causing massive traffic jams. What if the bus is farther back at the light and people are turning at the light? The bus is gonna have to stop at green lights to avoid collisions, causing traffic jams. Who even turns first, the bus or cars? Lets not even get into blinkers and not knowing who's turning. Trucks wont even be able to go under it.

That is all.

Very very very expensive and difficult to implement, this idea from China allows comparably small modifications to be made to the roads and motorways, while still allowing the same, if not more, passenger capacity to be added to a city's transport network.
I like it
Chinese Roadkill. But they will cover it up- ironic their oil spilled happened at the same time as the USA's.
hay gais i cant do english
nahhh
How the fuck do you get on board these things?
And what if you're driving under it and either the bus or you need to take a turn while the other needs to go forward?
Guys, it's obvious it's only going to go on rails and on long straight roads.
Notice how that's on a four lane highway, on a bridge, and no emergency lane. It works perfect there, for other roads? No.
Which is why it will only be used there.
Or maybe they'll make it wider, although I doubt that.
A challenger appears

Maybe it won't turn. The presentation was in Chinese but he did say "BRT", so maybe it'll just be used for linear BRT routes along major streets, with turning loops at the ends.
I dunno how good an idea it is, seems very expensive what with such elaborate vehicles and raised platforms and wouldn't deliver as much bang for your buck in terms of capacity as would a train or tram with multiple cars. I don't think it'll catch on.

I thought it was going to be a APC.
That's pretty smart actually. I'd rather have traffic keep on moving than be even more congested with a huge ass bus.
I like how it shoots sound waves at large trucks to scare them away.
What happens if you get in there, and then suddenly find you need to get out again for whatever reason.
People keep mentioning tall vehicles, but the road it travels on in the video has little height limit bars on it so obviously the lanes it drives over have a height limit. It has separate pieces for turning, and if your exit is coming up, you'll probably slow down or go to an outside lane.
That's awesome, good job China.
