Night raids are iffy because storming villages where innocent people are also sleeping can quickly lead to the death of those civilians. In the midst of panic, confusion, and fear, it is really easy for an innocent person to accidentally become a target. Even though members of the ISAF shouldn't be held above the law, they often get away with killing civilians. For Afghanistan to ask us to end this is more than reasonable, we should just dip anyways, it's a lost cause.

According to the UN, 70-80% of civilian casualties are caused by the Taliban.

Not any sort of large amount of them though. Afghanistan has minerals. Afghanistan has very little oil.
