This is actually a fear tactic, to let them "hack" (or so they called it) into one of the predators just to find out, "Isn't that us?"
[editline]03:41PM[/editline]
And I would do it...
I would think the 'blow them the fuck up whilst you can see them' tactic would be a little more effective.
You know, if I was pro-war-on-terror, anyway.
"Hah, those 3 guys crowded around that computer are about to get blown up, wait..."
I don't see a big danger in this, how often are predator drones used for anything other than spying, they can't get much info from the feeds.
The point is that they've proved there are security issues with the drones. That means that those drones used for combat could potentially fall under enemy control. This would fuck American forces over 'big time'.
You need specialized hardware to use this software.
You need a satellite dish and a satellite modem.

Actually, all it proves is that they've been able to intercept the video feed. Not that they're vulnerable to hacking.
well, they're unable to take control of the predators, so i really don't think we should be to worried.

I have a satellite dish. Can I hack predator drones now? :buddy:
Buying software to intercept unencrypted live feeds is not 'hacking'.
I wonder how many of those live feeds were of drones zooming their cameras in to see naked wommins.
gross naked iranian women
I guess it was a matter of time until someone said "OUR UAV IS OFFLINE"
I knew it would take long until MW2 was mentioned ^
We spend billions on projects like these and they can be undone by some terrorist in a cave with some cheap software.
Tony Stark built his Iron Man suit in a cave, don't under estimate cave technology.
Give it an encryption that plays goatse.
They should pull some counter hack maneuvers and intercept the signals, then reroute the drones to it's source.
but what happens if the gigachip bypasses through the signal's mainframe and intercepts the cyberwavelength? come on man everyone knows this
-snip-

Do note, that it completely fell apart after about five minutes of use.
Wasn't hacked retards.
26 Dollar program designed to pick up TV from satellites etc picked up that instead.

He can watch a video feed.
You make it sound like this guy caused every drone ever to crash simultaneously.
Do note, that it completely fell apart after about five minutes of use.
And that it's fictional.
They did it to cut costs.
How hard would it be to put the feed through, I dunno, even Denzo's algorithm could encrypt it.
Fucking hilarious. Of all the technology we have, of all the brains we have, we still get fucked by shitty $30 software.
God you people are stupid.
You know, I'm not too surprised. According to my dad, the Command and Control system is a hobbled-together piece of shit that has no documentation and has been contracted out to hundreds of different people.
I read a full article and it turns out they were only able to intercept the feeds from soldiers using older laptops that didn't have encryption on the video. They were also only able to do this when nearby the soldiers' positions.
So they got to watch themselves explode, eh?
So they got to watch themselves explode, eh?
Or leg it before said explosion.
Drone video feeds? Is that all it says they're getting?
Nothing quite like watching it watching you, huh?
Hey Look Mohammad, we're on T---
Whenever the news channels hear of anything involving computers, it become 'hacking' in the headlines. Because most people are too stupid to understand even the most basic explanations.
(Either that, or the news channels are said stupid people)
No, they fully know what's really going on
They just use words like that to catch attention.
News really isn't just news anymore :sigh:
Oh army
We give you so much money and you are still so dumb

noez lolz we fight teh terrorists
I will clear this up for you...
Here in America we realize that we didn't encrypt the video feeds. It isn't because we want to keep them secure, it is because we were hoping they would hack into them and see that we could see them taking a piss in the bathroom... or watching TV... or doing anything during their day. And then when they realize we can see them and attack them anytime we want, they will be scared into giving up.
Brilliant tactic.
This is a fact.
For the 1 person who will read this and take it as fact... It was a complete joke.
Oh really?
