yeah i am in not approval of him, definitely not voting for him next election!!!
Nah man, social issues. The democrats are in favor of increased government presence in the day to day lives of the citizens. Things like government sponsored healthcare and a federally sposored "safety net" (welfare and other such programs) I personally like the idea of the safety net, and do believe there should be a better way to deal with insurance companies to get the best price for the services provided but don't think the government is the best way to do that. The republicans on the other hand are supposed to be cutting back on government size, expenses, and overall activity on the people of the country. They are just as bad as the democrats are about increasing the funding, they just choose different places to put it.
That's a pretty accurate description. If republicans actually upheld what their party stands for, I'd be republican all day long
yeah i am in not approval of him, definitely not voting for him next election!!!
Obama's approval ratings influence Democratic votes for the next election. Especially when you have a party as devoted to establishment status-quo as they are.
Both parties are in this category for different reasons.
Sure, which is why they are becoming, in effect, the same party. They disagree on a couple key issues but it's not like a communist vs libertarian thing going on. Part of that has to do with how utterly uninformed a lot of people are about things. I know people who actually use the Daily Show as their source of news. They don't really teach fact checking in school outside of science class though so I guess that might explain part of it?

If he gets the boot out of the white house, what will happen to Obongo care?
and btw the daily show as a source of news is better than cnn or fox news.
Now the question is who'll be the first person to say the 52% are all doing it because they're racist...
If he gets the boot out of the white house, what will happen to Obongo care?
nothing, it is too expensive to dismantle and get rid of it.
nothing, it is too expensive to dismantle and get rid of it.
unless america votes in someone who is willing to remove obamacare just because he doesn't like obamacare
but this is on the far right of the political spectrum, the republicans aren't become "leftist", the democrats are migrating farther right.
You are thinking of the wrong left and right. Left and right in the US mean Liberalism and Conservatism... which also don't quite mean the same things in the US as in other places. The left of the US is in favor of large scale government reforms of things (socialized medicine is the most recent example), the right is more of the mindset that people can handle those things on their own. The trouble is that neither party really stands for much anymore but the enrichment of it's party members and their friends, so they aren't "right" or "left" anymore, they're just wrong. [editline]13th November 2013[/editline]
and btw the daily show as a source of news is better than cnn or fox news.
So watch BBC then, or something else. A comedy show is not a good source of unbiased news. He's clearly very liberal, therefore he makes jokes at the expense of conservatives. If that's what you want that's what you get but it's not a good source of news, just jokes.
that makes the democrats rightist, not leftist. traditional leftists on a 1-dimensional political spectrum oppose government presence in the lives of citizens.
You can say that all you want, but the parties across the western world considered left act in the way he described.
unless america votes in someone who is willing to remove obamacare just because he doesn't like obamacare
They would need at minimum majorities in both houses and a president that will go along with it. Right now, that does not look likely at all.
So watch BBC then, or something else. A comedy show is not a good source of unbiased news. He's clearly very liberal, therefore he makes jokes at the expense of conservatives.
I don't think a comedy show is a good source but maybe he makes jokes about them because the republicans are a joke.

[editline]13th November 2013[/editline]
You can say that all you want, but the parties across the western world considered left act in the way he described.
yea, my point i was trying to go with in that line of thought was that a 1-dimensional political spectrum isn't incredibly useful.
are right wingers also of the mind that government expenditure of the military should be cut? or what about government expenditure on things like the patriot act and law enforcement? to be fair to jon stewart he makes jokes at the expense of anyone who is utterly ridiculous in american politics. american conservatives are just easy and plentiful targets.
You mean the patriot act that Obama expanded? That was a shit idea. They SHOULD be in favor of GLOBAL cuts, but they are not which is a part of why they are going leftist. Any increase in government size should be stopped. They don't need to be bigger, they need to be smarter and more efficient. The fact that many republicans bend on the main issues that they are supposed to be fighting against as their primary platform is another example of, at the very least, weakness, at worst being in complete agreement... and therefore essentially the same party. Jon Stewart... Please point me to a single time he makes fun of a liberal politician. I'd like to see it, because all I've EVER seen is a one sided bashing of a single party. And that's ok for a comedian, it's not OK for a news source to be doing.
obama sucks
Every president after JFK sucked. And he was no saint either.

I used to watch it every once in a while but I liked the Colbert Report better anyways... and don't have much time to watch TV. Good to see when people can see bullshit flowing from both ends of the cow.
here's one from less than a month ago
Thanks for that. It's still not a source of news, since it IS soundbites and filtered through a comedian. He cuts the parts he can most easily make fun of rather than showing the whole thing, because he wants to make something entertaining rather than fully informative.
that's the way almost all of our news is anyways.
Then get it from other countries. It's sad that foreign news sources are more reliable than local ones, but it's better than being uninformed or told only half of the story.
obama sucks
Obama sucks Bush Jr sucks Bush Sr sucks Clinton was "ok" I mean, really. No matter who's in office they will probably suck major ass
I think during the next election we may have a republican candidate. If I remember correctly, Romney had like ~40% of the votes. If a retard like Romney can get ~40%, I'm sure a candidate whose head isn't up their ass could win.
(fyi 40% is pitiful even for an election against an incumbent)
(fyi 40% is pitiful even for an election against an incumbent)
depends on the context of what he says. romney got 48-49% of the popular vote. i think romney got like 45% of the electoral votes(a little less maybe), but that isn't really pitiful when you take into account the "winner takes all" method that electoral votes are counted.
Honestly, both parties suck and are filled with scum, but the democrats at least mostly don't have insane ideas like the Republicans who seem to constantly spew the most stupidest bullshit I've ever seen. Yeah, the ACA isn't great, but since America is too anti-socialism to adopt a cheaper, fair national healthcare service, this is sadly the best they could come up with. Since the house isn't proposing anything to actually improve the bill, but rather "DEFUND/REPEAL HURRRRR SHUT DOWN THE GOVURNMENT!", It won't be changed for the better. It's fucking hilarious watching people try and attack great ideas like an NHS with nothing but "thats socialism! and socialism is bad!!!" Obviously you can't socialize everything because it likely would never work, but socializing things like Healthcare, the Police force, and firefighters are necessary for everyone to be able to live their lives without either horrible debt from being in an accident or being dead. Seriously, we spend so much fucking money on healthcare, we could save a shit-ton if we Nationalize it. If you think infant mortality rates are a good way to judge healthcare you are massively uninformed.
If you think infant mortality rates are a good way to judge healthcare you are massively uninformed.
I provided more than that in the link below it, I just didn't want to spend 30 minutes finding the perfect graphs. Also, I am not "massively uninformed" http://jech.bmj.com/content/57/5/344.long
Every president after JFK sucked. And he was no saint either.
It would be interesting to know what your list of favorite presidents includes. To my knowledge every notable president has done something most people heavily disagree with.
