People who commit horrific acts of violence toward some of the only other sapient creatures on this planet are just as bad as people who get in their way and try to break their boats? Sounds like a false equivalence to me!
Japanese Whalers regularly tout loopholes in International Maritime Law to harvest whales by the hundreds for "research," where the reality is they're selling the carcasses for vast profits, back in the Japanese mainland, where whale is considered a delicacy. Sea Shepherd on the other hand are considered Eco-terrorists by numerous federal and international groups, including the U.S. and Japanese governments, and regularly utilize tactics that classify as acts of ecoterrorism(i.e. scuttling privately owned ships, attacking sailors with acid, boarding ships, etc.).
So yes, they are equally criminals, albeit in their own way.
Is the Gojira named for the amazing eco-band of the same name?

Apparently it's inspired by the racial stereotype that all Japanese are flat fucking terrified of Godzilla, a.k.a "Gojira." This has led to the SSCS being accused of being racist as well.
The more you know, I guess.

I'm going to keep assuming its named for the band :smith:

FYI "acid" is a somewhat misleading term as it wasn't the kind of acid that damages human tissue. It's just stinky iirc

It's about as acidic as a fart.
Nice to see it might actaully be doing something.
I hate these Sea Shepard guys. These guys are pretty much ecoterrorists.
I hate these Sea Shepard guys. These guys are pretty much ecoterrorists.
who cares if they're eco terrorists? they're stopping these assholes from killing whales why is this such a bad thing. why arent the whalers eco terrorists they're terrorizing the whales!!!
I hate these Sea Shepard guys. These guys are pretty much ecoterrorists.
Hm, their bodycount is zero. Some terrorists they are.
Technically their bodycount is in the negative due to all the whales and shit they're saving.
I never knew that kind of vessel existed (their new one). It's badass!
I predict that Sea Shepard will one day find a whaling ship stuffed with pirates contracted by a Japanese whaling company and get held for ransom.
I want that the japanese keep killing whales just to annoy these Sea Shephard-faggots.
Good reason.
Apparently Australia is thinking about sending a CBP (Customs/Boarder Protection) ship down there to make sure no one get's hurt. I wonder how the whalers would respond to this because the Aussies claim the territory, but the Japanese don't recognize it nor have the required permits to do anything cetacean related. (they have "self approved" permits) This would be like a Customs officer watching cartel's run contraband through the boarder and just shake his head rather than do anything about it. Aussies need to grow some balls and protect what they claim is theirs.
Fuck those Japanese whalers, Japan needs to be punished with economic sanctions and no, Sea Shepherd is nowhere near as bad as PETA
They also do the same shit to dolphins, sure you may go "Oh well, we kill Cows too, what's bad about that!?". Incomparable, 1. watch The Cove, it exposes the Japanese inhumane methods of killing dolphins, dolphins can actually feel and understand the physical pain
So can cows. I wish the sea shepherd would fuck off, the lives they ruin by preventing the japanese whalers from having an income outweights that of the whales.

The whalers are making profit ILLEGALLY. It's like saying the police ruin lives by stopping bank robbers from getting their income

The main difference between Dolphins and Cows is that Dolphins both feel and understand the pain. Cows feel the pain but don't necessarily understand it or understand as fully what their life is and that it's about to snuffed out. They'll react on instinct but not any real comprehension.
Not to mention the fact that cows slaughtered for meat are done humanely and relatively quickly. The whales harvested by the Japanese are often speared, and dragged onto the ship to bleed to death in mental and physical agony for an hour.
I just wish we could have an unbiased agent do the job instead of watson.

I am becoming more and more convinced that you people have no idea what "biased" means.

If you don't want the bad rep of all the questionably legal actions Paul has taken then look into Pete Bethune and his new organization.
Seriously if it were for me, I would not hestiate to fire a torpedo or open gun fire at any whaling ship. They are killing SAPIENT noble creatures.
I thought of making a group like this, even before I heard about sea shepherds. Acting illegaly if needed. Who wants to headshot some japanese with me?

Uhh, no one?
It's better that you just non-lethally discourage, rather than making a death border. That just makes things worse.

I've been through this before, we kill cows with a captive bolt pistol which stuns them instantly. In a properly regulated slaughter house the cows don't feel any pain. A whale dies with an explosive tipped, rocket propelled harpoon that reels them up so they cannot dive where they are repeatedly shot with rifles until they drown on their own blood. This is after an entire pod is chased to exhaustion so they can no longer dive and have to sit and watch as the weakest member of their family is tortured to death. This is similar to someone chasing you down in a car while you and your family are jogging, then shooting you in the back with a crossbow that's tied to said car, then pulling you up to the grille of said still moving vehicle and being shot to death with a .22 caliber rifle in the back. Whales do feel pain, whales do feel emotion, whales do live in intricate families. There are no similarities between this and the western slaughterhouse at all.

Oh I know, then beating them japanese with bats. That's non lethal. They deserve it, their reasons to disregard dolphin intelligence, is plain retarded. I'd become a pirate, if now days, the most ridiculous cults get followers. Why wouldn't I get followers? Who wants to become a pirate and fight for a good cause?

They don't want to offend anyone.
