Because it is rather impossible for Saudi officials to give a shit about Islam.
Oh yes it is impossible for Saudi to give a shit about Islam. Love the display of selective fact picking. "They are the most religious nation in the world, but if a religious decree is made that's against my own agenda, it must be false!"
http://www.terrorism-info.org.il/malam_multimedia/html/final/eng/bu/saudi/saudi_dgb.htm Jump down to the end of the article (right before the charts part): "Dore Gold is President of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs and former Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations. This Jerusalem Viewpoints is an updated version of his testimony before the U.S. Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs of July 31, 2003, and is based on his presentation at the Institute for Contemporary Affairs in Jerusalem on September 18, 2003." And from the Senate website: http://hsgac.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Hearings.Hearing&Hearing_ID=9e6956c7-914f-490f-8b0d-5aedc0587db0 Panel 2 Ambassador Dore Gold (this is the writer of the article) [view testimony] Former Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Steve Emerson [view testimony] Executive Director The Investigative Project Jonathan Winer [view testimony] Alston & Bird
Fair enough
Sorry Starpluck but I agree with ohadje this time [editline]12:35AM[/editline] You're kind of struggling

"They are the most religious nation in the world, but if a religious decree is made that's against my own agenda, it must be false!"
No, that's not it. The thing is that politicians have no problem to go against their own beliefs or the beliefs they force on their citizens. Such as politicians who are against prostitution and yell about its' immorality at the morning, but go to a prostitute at the evening. Just like in this case; The fatwa says that they shouldn't fund terrorism, but they still do. edit: The level of my English has seriously decreased due to my lack of sleep. My apologies.
This is so wrong and so right at the same time :argh:
I'm sure he didn't intentionally paralyse the man in the fight, quite possibly he just ended up that way, however it was not his intention to paralyse. So why should he deserve an equivilent punishment
If the paralyzation is full body, death would be better. At least leave him his hands...
He really does
Yes indeed, Go fuck yourself. (not you cheeseman)
So just like Guantanamo bay! They are sooo trying to copy AMERICA.
What the fuck is this shit.
My sisters dad is in Saudi Arabia, if she enters the country looking for him they'll imprison her and claim she is a Saudi citizen so she cant go back to the US. Just a sense of how fucked up their system is.
I seem to be missing out on something here. Why was this guy rated dumb? Please explain.
Saudi government used Thunder Wave! Saudi man is paralyzed. Saudi man is paralyzed. It can't attack!
I wonder how many people decrying this are for the death penalty in the United States? Killing a man for killing a man is just as bad as paralysing a man for paralysing a man. Judging by the comments in this thread vs. the comments in a capital punishment thread, I think there's a rather large vein of hypocrisy running through facepunch.

Why is this a big deal? All he needs is a potion and he won't lose turns anymore
He deserves it, but it's still cruel. Prison is the best choice. Execution, maybe.
The punishment should fit the crime but not like this...
The Wahhabi mentality is so screwed up. They're like the WBC of Islam, but they actually have political power instead of being a running joke.

The thought of them paralyzing this man for accidentally doing the same to another is more obviously fucked up than injection, but both are equally bad.
I'm not much for the death penalty, but being paralyzed is way worse than being killed.
I meant that the death penalty and this as institutionalized practices are equally bad, not that being killed is as bad as this. That's arguable.
I thought we as a civilization were past this :smith:
Can anyone explain why we have not envaded Saudi's. All they do is fund terrorists.
What ever happened to the Hippocratic oath? No self respecting surgeon would do this.
kill yourself
Telling someone to kill themselves, you should be stoned to death. [editline]08:19PM[/editline]
What ever happened to the Hippocratic oath? No self respecting surgeon would do this.
Is that like a Hippopotamus Democracy?
"Here in America we have a death sentence but god forbid someone tries the whole eye for an eye thing in another country!" Fucking hypocrites. [editline]02:27AM[/editline] Talking about the people in this thread, not Amnesty. But then again, why isn't Amnesty hopping on America? Sometimes I just fucking hate the way things work. [editline]02:28AM[/editline] Rhetorical question in-case one of you smart-asses actually try to answer. [editline]02:52AM[/editline] Ohey looks like a fellow Canadian has already pointed this out. High Five.
MW2 quotes, gtfo.
Please tell me you are trolling. Does the name Ghandi ring a bell?
Is that like a Hippopotamus Democracy?
No, the Hippocratic Oath was devised by Hippocrates (or possibly one of his students) as an oath taken by doctors to only practice medicine ethically.
I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant: I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow. I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism. I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug. I will not be ashamed to say "I know not," nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery. I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given to me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God. I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick. I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure. I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm. If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.

"Here in America we have a death sentence but god forbid someone tries the whole eye for an eye thing in another country!" Fucking hypocrites.
Why paralyse him for a fight? Just send him to prison for life. Using mental torture on someone as punishment is unbelievably cruel.
Just send him to prison for life.
No.
Using mental torture on someone as punishment is unbelievably cruel.
Prison IS mental torture.
No. Prison IS mental torture.
No it's not. They can have contact with people from the outside, they can still do stuff like lifting weights or running. They can eat freely.
