Stock market bubble thanks to trump, It's gonna crash hard eventually.
And we're still recovering from the impact of the 2008 financial crisis. Good luck everyone, we're in for a rough future.
Some would say the man in charge is the reason that the DOW is at 20k
Some would be uninformed.
The DOW has a very steady rise, it was on track to hit 20,000 under Obama, but flirted with the point. The only headline worthy Trump related news is that he hasn't done anything to crash the market (yet).
I implore you to look at the DOW growth under Obama, we can only hope it keeps up under Trump.
Yes but factually, his actions have nothing to do with that and his presence is an indicator, of what, not even the stocks are going to tell you that.
however, feel free to find another reason to support Trump, that he has nothing to do with in any actionable terms.
[editline]25th January 2017[/editline]
That's stupid, sorry, it is.
You just sat back and accepted Obama? You never wrote a letter, complained to congress, or took democratic actions that you are able to do? Damn, your fault. But why should other people take that approach?
As for me, as a Canadian, I'm going to be effected by this in many ways that I can't effect, so, I will complain. Why is that bad?
I bitched to tons of people about Obama. But he was my president so I got over it and hoped for the best. It's not that stupid. If you hate Trump, go protest with the rest of the other Bernie hipsters and take your opposition elsewhere.
Fun story, I reported to the budget director that reported to Obama. So I have seen first hand how this shit fucking government works. They are all criminal assholes.
I wouldn't read too much into it. It's been basically level since early December. Hell, it's been within 100 points of 20k since December 13th.
Some would say the man in charge is the reason that the DOW is at 20k
He's been in office for 5 days? I'm pretty sure there isn't a lever in the white house that says ECONOMY GOOD.
Thanks, Obama. Fortunately, the subsequent market correction is inevitable and nobody needs to be worried about taking the blame (except for maybe the day traders and speculators). We'll get over that hurdle soon enough.
Looking forward to Dow 25k by 2020!
Every speech he made after Trump won?
Any decent American will want their president to do well. I hated Obama up until the end but I wanted and hoped he'd do the right thing. Idk why Facepunch is so anti-republican but he's the president now, there's nothing you can do about it, so just hope for the best and stop this stupid "RESIST!" bullshit
passivley sitting by and letting the president do what he wants with no voice in the matter is the most unamerican thing possible
passivley sitting by and letting the president do what he wants with no voice in the matter is the most unamerican thing possible
Nobody is letting him do what he wants. He faces the same checks and balances that any other president has had.

I would argue otherwise, as the checks and balances you are referring to (Congress, Senate, soon Supreme Court) are under the control of the Republican party who are letting him get away with quite a lot already despite their 'values'.

Nobody's calling it a conspiracy. Just saying the majority of Republicans don't exactly have a history of being full of integrity after so many years of not doing their job while Obama was president.
The tech coming soon will do the overhauling. Nano, automaton, biotech, cybernetics and what not will create a change.
I share your optimism regarding future tech but in the mean time conservative governments will be pushing people more and more to rely on jobs whilst companies push to automate and cut jobs, hours and/or pay.
The change will take decades in that time people will get caught in the deficit and be worse and worse off. Unhappy people tend to veer toward extremist politics when what we (the west/developing world) need is moderate politics and stability.

Dems are corrupt too, dude.

I don't think it's wise to tell other people not to paint with wide strokes, just after doing it yourself.
The bull climbs up the stairs; the bear jumps out the window. A crash is coming, and it's going to hit hard. The real estate market, at least, is on the brink of a major downturn lasting several years.
Trump should be held in check by Congress but I don't think congressional Republicans have any spines.
