Sorry, but pretty much every constitution under the sun allows the state to suspend certain civil liberties and rights in times of war or great emergency. And a civil war threatening to tear the entire country in two definitely qualifies for both.

"nowhere hitler level" my ass. Lincoln never resorted to perform medical experiments on POWs or civilians, or putting minorities on forced and dangerous work.

To be fair with that though, his "tyrranical" actions were likely necessary in a time where the nations was completely divided and fighting against each other. It's the same as pretty much any other major war the US has entered, Wilson did it, Roosevelt did it, and so did Lincoln. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
