Nahh, of course not 'nam's just as stupid as Iraq, Bosnia or Korea. I just talked about this individual soldier.
Well yeah individual people can be awesome. But on the whole most people seem to be complete pricks. Which is why I don't get this whole "troops are automatically good people because they're troops".

Do you respect Police, Firefighters, SWAT, FBI, CIA, etc? It's the same deal.

If a man is awarded the Medal of Honour because he endangered his own life to save others, then he deserves the respect he gets.

Drinking a liter of bleach? Not respectable. Running into a firefight and pulling our a wounded buddy? Respectable. If you saw someone come back from doing that, would you say "Oh what the fuck you dumbass!"
You're right. Every British soldier is Captain Price whereas every American soldier cowers in fear and gets medals tossed at them. I'm glad you know the system so well.
You're right. The Americans are the Christs of their time. They're the world's knights, saving us from every evil imaginable. Everyone else is pathetically weak and/or communist/terrorist/Muslim and therefore is human scum that needs America's protection or destruction. :downs:

Obviously you should be referencing the British.

He responded to how you said the British army are so much better than the U.S. and you equate it with this? At least use valid arguments against the U.S. government or military backed up with sources about how their training is worse or the government is more corrupt and not spout idiotic shit like this. No matter how much you want to be a Brit, you will always be American and I bet you hate that, don't you? :smug: Nationalism is so goddamn stupid, especially if you aren't even who you argue for.
[editline]09:00AM[/editline] What about our Royal Army? No matter what you do here, you rarely get medals. We had one guy, out of ammo, bayonet charge two AK-wielding Taliban, after shooting several more. One made the longest-distance rifle kill in history. What do they get? Media attention, and MAYBE a medal. I guess due to our extreme training (trust me, we have some of the most professional training in the world), it's considered normal, hm?
 Idiot, it's not a royal army as it was founded by Oliver Cromwell who was a parliamentarian, also I'd like to see you survive U.S military training I sure don't think it looks like a walk in the park.
Thats, uh, not related to the topic at all really. Stop trying to start shit.
It's a valid point, and I think we should remember that it's a fact, still.
Funny you mention that, I've been building a brecourt map for a game, and doing a fair bit of research on it. I don't know if it would be deserving of a medal of honor, it wasn't heroism, (well it was, but not in the same way) it was just sheer impressive small unit tactics. 13 soldiers essentially defeated 60+ germans and destroyed four howitzers, with only four deaths and a few injuries. Wish they could give him some other distinguishing medal. Not to mention the rest of his time in europe. Though to me, brecourt seems to be one of his most impressive feats. I believe he got a bronze star, but hell, a medal of honor does seem kind of fitting. I think the medal of honor is given for distinguished acts of heroism.. short timeframe kind of stuff.
Actually, the only reason he didn't receive the Medal of Honor for his assault at Brecourt Manor was because another man had already been awarded it from his division. Robert Cole, I believe; only one Medal of Honor can be awarded per division. Instead, Winters received the Distinguished Service Cross, a medal second only to the Medal of Honor itself. The DSC itself is an extremely prestigious award.
Don't forget that one fellow who killed fiddy men in Japan with his bare hands. :smug: [editline]09:00AM[/editline] What about our Royal Army?
