Brexit spreads across Europe: Italy, France, Holland and Denmark ALL call for referendums

Nordic Union when?
Man I fucking called it in the original Brexit vote thread. RIP EU. Would also not be surprised if Poland went for an exit too.
Every country has always had a political party that wants to leave the EU, but none are at the Britain scale and interviewing those politicians and them saying they want a referendum or want to leave the EU, doesn't mean its going to happen.
Ofc they are going to see this as their chance to stand up and try to make a statement, pretend the movement is much bigger then it is, but its unlikely anything will come of it. Euroscpetism has classically never been as high in other countries as it is in the UK.

If the EU goes bust, I'm hoping for some kind of Scandinavian union.

We already do http://www.norden.org/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordic_Council :joy:
If this falls through, Cameron will forever be known as the man who shattered Europe.

i dont get it
did he poop out europe
Even if you want to leave the EU, wouldn't this be the time to play it smart, wait and observe how the UK's doing so you can do it more smoothly in a couple years? 'cause clearly there's some major growing pains to work out here.
I mean, I get that emotional momentum is a powerful tool for getting votes, but at least from the voters' perspective, making a calmer and wiser decision would be more beneficial long-term even if you have to give up the momentary domino effect catharsis for it.

Well he is a euroskeptic, just not enough to want to leave
He might soon be the guy who lost scotland.
I will repeat the same, i'm pro-leave for Spain, considering how much the EU has damaged or outright killed some of our industries.
Hopefully this will lead to more votes across the union, I have a feeling much tighter regulations making it nearly impossible to leave will come into place after Britain.
When I think of stupid decisions that we can make, is going back 20 years ago
Knowing this country we would leave immediately and get fucked
Can someone give me citizenship to Finland?
Mind if I tag along, at this point?
Not in the slightest in the case of italy, a second class of euro is the dumbest idea I've ever heard.
This would be an even stronger blow to our economy, what the fuck was Di Maio thinking god damnit
The fire rises and for good reason.
A union based around trade is fine, but a political union that tries to rule Europe without any form of democratic accountability is not.
So please more referendums.
Better fucking fixit.
Dude if Italy leaves the EU we'd go back to using the Lira.
Life was so fucking cheap back then. One euro is 2000 lire, and until three decades ago you could get a coffee at a bar for just 50/100 lire. That's less than 5 cents in euros.

This is pretty much a huge italian inside joke btw, no need to chastise this guy
Unless he's indeed... the DRUNKEN one

I'm having trouble reading this while I chew my Spain grown cucumber here.

90% of modern politics is self masturbatory emotional kneejerk responses. that's how they get votes
Hopefully this situation isn't gonna happen here.
I wonder what other chaos lies in wait.
Will the states vote to break the union? Will we see the Noreastern states break away into their own commonwealth? Will the South Rise Again? The Lone Star Republic of Texas? The Republic of California?
Will Canada annex Washington State, Oregon and Alaska when the union falls?
The madness will spread here, especially with Trump in the UK recently supporting the break away from the EU.

This is the hugest leap I've ever seen someone make. This will never happen in the US, the union isn't breaking anytime soon. And we still don't know who's winning the election yet(I do pray it isn't trump).
why are you pro-leave? i buy airsoft stuff from poland sometimes and not having to pay out the ass for import costs is a godsend
there's also a large amount of benefits it brings beside that, free travel is pretty nice
I don't know about him, but coupled with the trade and travel is an ever increasing tendency to moralize and consolidate power under unelected officials. Plans for a EU army for example. The EU is nice, but it isn't exactly democratic.

David Cameron, the man who sold the world
There's one nation that's probably celebrating a potential implosion of the EU.. Russia. Do people not remember one of the main reasons why the EU was created in the first place? It's like people are wanting to go back to the meat grinders of WWI and WWII.
Yes there's a bit of overarching power within the EU Council & Presidency, in which obviously is going to be doing as much as it possibly can to prevent a break up, even if it means giving more conditional national sovereignty to members, the thing is, should the EU break up, it'll become like the powder keg of the early 1900's.
I will repeat the same, i'm pro-leave for Spain, considering how much the EU has damaged or outright killed some of our industries.
We backstabbed several of them first, the EU just finished them.
Remember that the lose of the nowdays industries like the solar energy one were made by the actual government and not from the EU. They just tell us to make cuts, no where (why they don't complain when we cut the public healthcare instead of fighting corruption is another topic).
The EU needs deep reforms, and those aren't going to be changed if we chicken out.

Even if the EU breaks up most of the countries will still be members of the NATO.
Even if the EU breaks up most of the countries will still be members of the NATO.
the thing is, in terms of being somewhat of a Union standing against the Russians, both the EU & NATO counterbalanced each other in ensuring security in the region & economic stability. If one primary part of the balance of power fails, the other will be stretched to the point where it may become economically untenable to be a part of such a defence union. Especially when you have a presidential candidate in one of NATO's biggest partners spruiking on about getting nations that rely on their material support for defence to start paying up more.
This is why some are concerned with this. Russia may have the opportunity now to continue with their eastern european conquest.

Oh of course, it was a combination of our fuckups + the EU, but for example the olive oil industry currently produces much less than it could, the blast furnace industry died. This was not before the crisis, it happened before.
Trump gets elected.
America becomes isolationist.
US pulls out of Europe and Asia.
UK vote to leave EU
Other EU countries leave.
EU collapses. Economic turmoil.
Russia invades Europe.
China invades the Pacific.
World War 3 begins.
It's like the setup to a shitty RTS
