Gun sales in the US soar as crime continues to drop

"Despite increases in gun sales, gun crimes continued to decrease "
are you dumb?
I think it's clearly a good thing
if everyone has a gun, how the hell could there be more gun crimes? no ones going to fuck with anyone if they know they might have a gun.
that sounds backwards but think about it, a criminal doesn't want to die, if he'll get that gun no matter what, then arm everyone around him legally and he won't have the balls to fuck with them.

if everyone has a gun, all criminals have a gun. That's the point. Stop people have guns, stop loads of criminals from getting guns. They'd have to resort to black markets which would arguably reduce the number of people able to get guns and, therefore, use them in crime.

Not a bad thing, I like knowing that my neighbor has thousands upon thousands of bullets and dozens of guns, if shit goes down, we will be fine.
Gunhoarding is sick imho.
Or a waste of cash at least.
I protect my house with a katana, but a gun is more practical. Are guns from craigs list legit?
If someone breaks in to my house in texas I'm free to fill them with holes.
I can also pursue a subject if they take something from my house.
See there is a point I would like living in the US, either than all the stupidity that goes on there, the self defense acts that you guys have are almost flawless if proven in court.
Someone breaks into your house, by smashing a door, or breaking glass to get in obviously shows a lethal force that they're going to take to get an item. Most of the time they're going to be carrying a knife or gun.
Apparently instead of protecting out family, or ourselves we have to make sure that we are in direct cause that the person WILL cause harm to us. If they just look at you and run away out the front door with nothing in hand, you can't do nothing. The cops will investigate but nothing will come of it.
You would have to pay for the replacement that they broke.
It's bloody stupid. I thought I've heard of cases where someone stole something from someones house, the owner who had a license for the weapon and to conceal it in a safe area(Lock box), gathered it, and shot the thief in the leg on his property.
He was in the wrong, because the thief didn't show direct harm to the owner.

yeah, except for the fact that if they'll get them no matter what, and if less people have them, the ones that DO have them would be FAR more willing to use them because they KNOW it's far safer to use the gun, as no random guy would pull his own out that he legally owns, so you kind of shoot yourself in the foot there. If someone who would've had a gun no matter what, has a gun, and so does everyone else, they're going to think twice before mugging people, on the account they could likely be shot, and die.
you're not going to stop people from having guns, that's just as retarded as trying to stop everyone from smoking drugs or drinking alcohol and making a huge deal about it. There's nothing you could possibly do to stop them, and acting too much is a waste of time and money, so, why even do it when guns aren't even that bad?
Not only that, but the legalization of drugs and guns only makes black markets far bigger and thus benefits criminals much more, add the fact they're safer using them now as normal citizens can't legally protect themselves? Yeah, exactly, completely missed the point.

No. Ban guns in America and suddenly the black markets are absolutely overflowing with kalashnikovs. They won't cost anything and there will be five of them for each gangbanger.

like this asshole
well maybe not that asshole
he's already in jail
guys why dont we just ban murder then murder rates will go down???
Just more proof that gun ownership doesn't outright create crime
maybe just stop letting ANYONE buy guys and gun sales will be controlled
And then someone up to no good can still get them from the back of a truck in an alley and anyone else not involved in shady stuff and no knowledge of such dark affairs can't protect him/herself because they couldn't get a gun.
You know, the point of the anti-gun party is that you give the means for criminals to commit crimes as well.
Although, it could be argued that a good portion of criminals would get their hands on guns regardless.
This... Why do I even write :v:
Still, the whole deal kinda bothers me, but not about guns.
I've heard of people breaking into other houses unnarmed and the owners beating them with say a shovel, and the owner getting in hot water for assault.

How do you justify your homicidal rates America?
Afterall, they are your downfall when it comes to gun related incidences.

ITT: non americans try to convince americans to outlaw guns as if that will stop hundreds of years of gun culture from permeating our country
Guns are apparently an unremovable part of american culture.

Most gun crimes are committed with legal guns.
gun control works great in other countries but the whole "gun culture" thing in america is so ridiculously inlet that even if you DO impose strict gun control laws you do end up with a scenario where the criminals have them and others dont. it sounds ridiculous for almost any other nation and that's because in almost any other nation it IS ridiculous, but in america the acquisition of a firearm really isn't a huge ordeal, and the fact that guns are so widespread in america means acquiring one illegally isn't so hard either.

Obama is the best thing to ever happen to the American gun industry. He doesn't inconvenience the gun industry in any way, shape, or form, and they get to paint him as a boogyman who is going to take your guns any day now, so you better buy more!
And after 4 years those NRA members are still too dumb to figure out that the axe is never going to fall.

Gonna need to cite that claim pal because Im fairly certain thats wrong
ITT: GUN NUTS VS REST OF THE WORLD
I'm anything but a gun nut and even I believe that taking guns away from American civilians would be a terrible idea.
Guns are so prevalent here in America that outlawing them will only empower criminals.
Considering America borders on Mexico, where I assume most of the illegal guns are sneaked in through, getting rid of guns would only leave gangs with an advantage.
yeah, except for the fact that if they'll get them no matter what, and if less people have them, the ones that DO have them would be FAR more willing to use them because they KNOW it's far safer to use the gun, as no random guy would pull his own out that he legally owns, so you kind of shoot yourself in the foot there. I did state that in my earlier posts, but i'm going to have to, if not disagree, at least question one of your points. Gun ownership after a ban wouldn't be impossible but it certainly wouldn't be as widespread as it is today, criminals would be safer using them, yes, but I do think that the number of them would drastically decrease, far enough to compensate. After all, people would smoke and drink a lot less if bans were issued. You can bring statistics from Al Capone's time if they do contradict me, though, but I very much so doubt they will.
Black markets would grow, though, no issues raised there.
If we ban them it will not stop gun violence, there are already too many out there and they are too easy to get.
You can get them FedEx'd right to your house

That's a fairly safe claim to make, I'd say you're probably spot on.

How does any country justify it's homicide rates?
What the fuck are you even asking, that is some stupid shit you just posted.

The NRA is like a beaten dog. Politicians have tried and sometimes succeeded in passing firearm regulations in the past so whenever the NRA think they smell blood they tend to get worked up into a frenzy and I can't blame them one for it bit when you look at past and current firearm regulations.
Instead of banning the sale of guns, they're just making it so difficult and expensive a hobby that only the rich can afford it. Which makes you wonder if their goal is to leave it up to the rich 'elite' because hey, they don't already have enough power over us right?
It's like the black powder ban I've mentioned numerous times. No it'd be unconstitutional to outright ban the sale of black powder, but what they did was ban the shipment of it without a hazmat license, what this did was made it extremely expensive to buy black powder so retailers just plain stopped selling it. Most of the guns that ban affected are single shot muzzleloaders. The best part of it though is it's still legal to ship synthetic power and smokeless powder without a hazmat license, but one is generally worthless all around and doesn't work in anything other than percussion guns and the other makes the gun blow up and kill you if you try and load it into a black powder gun.
