The Digital Distro Wars ... It has begun.
Thought it's been on for a while... :sigh: Nobody [but I] loves you anymore, Impulse
Wait, HOW did they legally get the ability to sell Left 4 Dead 2, a Valve game, on a non-valve distribution platform?
Made a deal with VALVe?
Well those people are stupid. No one can compete with Steam.
Even name of company sounds lame
Their funding is 3.5 million dollars? Who the flying fuck would invest that much money into a copycat company like that?
mac client not included fuck that
It says ".com" at the end of logo in main website. It's not professional at all if you ask me
It says ".com" at the end of logo in main website. It's not professional at all if you ask me
Yeah it is, it's an internet business. Lots of companies do that.
Haha, vip membership [editline]9th December 2010[/editline]
Yeah it is, it's an internet business. Lots of companies do that.
I don't think so. Link me to few professional company websites that do it
Haha, vip membership [editline]9th December 2010[/editline] I don't think so. Link me to few professional company websites that do it
Amazon does it.
Amazon does it.
That's because Amazon's name is "Amazon.com" but not "Amazon" [editline]9th December 2010[/editline] Notice "Your amazon.com" button
That's because Amazon's name is "Amazon.com" but not "Amazon" [editline]9th December 2010[/editline] Notice "Your amazon.com" button
Well aren't you just smart. It's all about marketing. Typically you read top to bottom, left to right. You see the logo first. They're a web based company, so it's all about selling the name. Simple marketing tactics man.
Well aren't you just smart.
Well, you don't know jackshit about how company website should be [editline]9th December 2010[/editline]
© 1996-2010, Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates

Well, you don't know jackshit about how company website should be
So do you have a BA or MBA in marketing since you know everything?
So you have an MS in marketing?
No, I don't. I just have common sense
No, I don't. I just have common sense
That's what they're calling that now. Gotcha.
This will die a terrible death like GamersGate and other "steam competitors"
This will die a terrible death like GamersGate and other "steam competitors"
Yep, but Steam does have some legit competition, so maybe this will work. Never know.
If there's anything that I'd love to have it's some kind of Steam client for game mods
I hate how people are looking at Steam's dominance on the Online market is a bad thing. They know what they're doing and then some. Then again i don't ever think there's been a non abusive monopoly.
A monopoly is asking to be destroyed, besides, we benefit from this.
I've always wondered though.... If Steam was to ever go away, as with any digital distribution network, what would happen to our games that we've bought over the years? Would our library of games and all of our money we put into it be instantly vaporised into NOTHINGNESS?
Wouldn't that be illegal?
Well if a company goes bankrupt stuff owed to customers and partners is uh.. dissolved? I don't know how this works but the company would be unable to fulfill their obligation to you and since nobody would be left in it nobody can be held responsible. This is why you create companies yes, to protect the employees from such obligations. That's how I understand it anyway.
Ahahahhahaha !!! Ahahhahaha !!! You got me ! Ahahahahaaha
Competition is good but I don't see myself using this service even if they don't have the "hurr you must be online to play single-player!"-kind of DRM(Well, it depends on how much control you have of the files) If they go under then poof! All the games I've paid for are gone. At least Steam won't be going bankrupt anytime soon. The other problem with using both Steam AND Wegame is that soon you'll have all these game clients you have to update every once in a while and you can't really count on playing for favourite games when you want. Especially in areas where the internet is slow(And don't give me that "well then, get a better internet!"-crap since in some areas you might have only one internet service provider that screws you over) . I'm sticking with Steam for my digital pc purchases(which are pretty much limited to Valve games and those < 5€ offers on games I wouldn't bother getting from retail).
Steam is the only client I know of with such a draconian updating scheme.
This is Steam, atop its horde of users and gold. [img_thumb]http://dragon-drawings.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/dragon-pictures.jpg[/img_thumb] This is wegame. [img_thumb]http://www.mus-musculus.com/mouse.jpg[/img_thumb] Any questions?
Wouldn't that be illegal?
Should of read your Steam License Agreement.
And I still remember when they wanted to buy my old ATi Radeon 9200 because their recorder crashed on it
