It's gonna be cracked.
Hope so
I'm glad I went with AMD. I bought an AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition, 102€. 3.2GHz default clock on all cores. I core unlocked it, so now it's a quad core, and then I overclocked it to 3.6GHz. And it's stable.
welp, so much for my 1366 motherboard
Whoa? For fucking real guise? So, I go into this store, and I buy this CPU. And it tells me for me to release the full potential of the product I just purchased; I need to buy more shit.
Just like the X360. "To do anything, you must now buy a HDD, then continue to pay for Xlive to do anything fun".
Fuck them, if they start doing this, I won't give a shit, I'll just crack it for free.
There needs to be a new competitor on the market. I'm getting tired of AMD and Intel.
The new bulldozer processors are meant to be revolutionary design and performance. I love AMD, but deep down in my heart I know Intel is probably going to out perform them.
just like Phenom I right
Buy a door with lock. But key is separate?
buy a sandwich* [sp]*meat not included[/sp]
How long till it's cracked? A day? Less?
Also since it's software based, does that mean it will work only on windows?

It runs perfect at 3.9GHz, when the CPU starts to hit 70C, it runs less stable :( I still think AMD has the best Price-to-performance ratio than intel. Atleast they don't nickel and dime me as well. And for the goon who said AMD was low end, you don't know what you are talking about. I say their mid to high range CPUs are very competitive with Intels (What 10-15% the performance, at 50% less expensive). Plus hyperthreading is still shit, better than the P4 half assed attempt at HT. Its still nothing great; infact its just another "workaround" for Intel. Instead of sticking the extra cores on the die, they go ahead and use HT. Which is actually far less effecient as an extra core. AMD just needs to work on power gating. Once they get that done (Hopefully Bulldozer), they can be a true competitor against Intel.
Perfect opportunity for AMD to get ahead, unless they take the same route of douchebaggery, of course.
Dumb move Intel- that makes me want to side with AMD.
Processors now have DLCs
I think this is a awesome move. Because of this the prices will drop because stupid people will pay for the software. While smart people will just hack it and pay no money.
I also got a Phenom II and unlocked the extra cores, $96 3.2 GHz quad-core? yes please
I think this is a awesome move. Because of this the prices will drop because stupid people will pay for the software. While smart people will just hack it and pay no money.
I don't really think so.
That's bullshit. Its just how annoying how some gaming companies have DLC pre-installed on the disc however you need to buy it to unlock it. Just release it with the game damn it and make more DLC as time goes on.
AMD are far superior anyway
I thought I read that the next gen of standard processors was going to have their multipliers locked, and we'll have to pay extra for overclocking. Yeah, here it is: http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2010/07/22/intel-to-limit-sandy-bridge-overclocking/1
AMD are far superior anyway
Haha, great joke
Haha, great joke
Vs price it does. We'll also see when bulldozer comes.
AMD are far superior anyway
rofl
This reminds me of some professional hardware stuff. There are manufacturers who manufacture osilloscopes, and one will cost about twice as much as the other, and can run at twice the speed, and the only hardware difference is a single resistor across two solder points.
I hate big business.
ITT: People bashing AMD when they haven't tried an AMD processor.
NEWS FLASH: INTEL DECIDES TO KILL OFF ANY REPUTATION IT HAS OR EVER WILL HAVE. MORE AT 11 caps
ITT: People bashing AMD when they haven't tried an AMD processor.
Because we could always get a better Intel one
