"We need blood for gay people, but we don't want gays to donate the blood". This is a fucking joke.
If I had a gaping bullet wound in my chest that drained me of 70% of my blood and the only thing that's keeping me alive is other people's blood, I'm not going to give a single solitary fuck if the donor is gay or not. Hell I wouldn't care if my life didn't completely depend on it, either.
How retarded. We need blood, we're in CRISIS. But fuck off if you're gay we don't want yours. Sometimes I wonder if we're not a third world country. Why is this even a thing, even in an actual emergency, FDA?
The FDA doesn't hate gay people. Male on male sex is still the leading cause of HIV infections and HIV can go undetected in blood donations because of the HIV three week incubation period. That's an image I hope I'll never experience in my lifetime. Damn.

It isn't like straight people don't pass HIV around also
christ
didn't some emergency responders in the bataclan last year also say that?

And while straight people also pass it around its still an unnecessary risk. The last thing you want to give someone recovering from a GSW is something to compromise their immune system.
Good thing those big bad militarized police were able to take immediate action
christ
Just... Fucking hell, imagine the mental fortitude you would need to keep yourself together in that scenario.

So much for "using these events for political reasons". Apparently that's only a thing when you ask about gun control laws, not increased discrimination against Muslims.

Of course Obama's going to talk about guns. I heard that the first thing Sanders said was about guns too.
they already test all blood for HIV though, not just donations from gay men this is just horrible
They ask women and men if they practice anal sex as well during the donation survey, and will not allow them to for the same reason. It's not discriminatory against gay people; it's preventative in all people. It just happens gay people are at a higher risk of activities that spread HIV more which leads again to having it more.
Of course Obama's going to talk about guns. I heard that the first thing Sanders said was about guns too.
His Twitter only had an excerpt from a statement where he condemned the attacks. Last time I checked, Clinton's twitter just had a "my thoughts and prayers are with the victims in this tragic time" kind of statement.

Straight couples are allowed to donate blood regardless of how they fuck, lesbians are allowed to donate blood, but gay men are not allowed to donate blood unless they haven't had sex in the last 5 years.
That idea of cell phones just constantly buzzing is a dreadful thought. Just a side note, a lot of people struggle with how their families handle their homosexuality. Hopefully none of them had ongoing family problems in turmoil over something so stupid as being disowned.

I had a friend that was there, I haven't seen him post on facebook or heard from him since it happened. Edit: Apparently he's in the hospital right now but I don't know how serious his injuries are.

No shit Obama is going to politicize it. He is the leader of the country. It is his job to lead, which includes offering support and guidance in the face of tragedies. If he sat around and said "oh its a terrible thing" but offered nothing by way of what we can do in the future you all would crucify him for being a weak leader with no vision.

oh well that's pretty conclusive

http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/statistics/overview/ataglance.html
So rather than ban it entirely why not do what any remotely progressive country would do and change it so the restriction only applies to people who have conducted in boning within the last month or so? People can already lie about not being gay, so them being able to lie about when they last fucked isn't really much more of a concern.
Some political analysts have suggested that the ramadan might drove some muslim crazy.
Some political analysts have suggested that the ramadan might drove some muslim crazy.
Maybe he saw a poster advertising the night club event on Ramadan and he snapped. Some people are highly unpredictable that way. Who knows how indoctrinated he is, or how he got that way.
Some political analysts have suggested that the ramadan might drove some muslim crazy.
Source on that?
